SPUD with Wilkie on No 8. Still not letting up this blade. Fantastic. I feel the need to replace it just so I can give the razor a clean. But I won't.
 
First shave today after three days off.

Man alive it cleaned my bristles off nicely.
 
I am not sure but I think I am up to shave 5 with the vintage-vintage-vintage Wilkie as of yesterday.

Last shave was in the Pureman proto and Jermyn St. A little lacking actually, didn't feel quite so smooth but then again it has been a while since I lathered Jermyn and it the cream is going off a little. That's probably due to not screwing it down tight after use.

Starting to get a little worried about the Smoggie 730HD. Shedding is the name of the game now, I suppose if it lasts another year or so it will have had about 5 years of solid use.

I was wrong about this blade - I replaced it this morning and it turns out it was an Aussie Wilkinson.

So I put a new Black 7 O'Clock in and managed to nick myself by having the Progress on 5+. Sliced a little bump I had on my neck.

I also broke the lid of the Godrej tube so I squeezed the remainder of the tube into an empty TOBS jar. I'll flick it your way next time we see each other @Pjotr
 
@Monsta_AU Sounds like you need a new (vintage, re-knotted in TGN finest by a master craftsman, butterscotch) brush soon ...

I rushed this shave. The brush was fantastic. Compliments to @Mark1966 and @Pjotr.
Good lather on the face and wonderful handle.

I had a bump on my neck and sliced it, I felt it the second it happened, and I bled for a while. Proraso gel fixed it.

Otherwise a great shave and I am looking forward to using soaps with this brush.
 
Peerless Brush: Just re-discovered it's name. My first restore. Ugly as sin but with a nice low set 20mm TGN Finest.

SPUD with a vintage Wilkie on No 10: I just can't shave this blade to death. Am tempted to ditch it so I can clean the razor but I won't. It feels as good as the first shave.
 
First day of my new job in property advisory consultancy, so I felt obliged to look presentable. Combed my hair and shaved my face. iKon SB w/ Perma-Sharp, Duke 2 and TOBS Jermyn Street. I needed a smooth and irritation free shave, and the TOBS obliged as always. Good cushion against the clean cutting PSS. Proraso white A/S balm, and then a new contender to the post-shave ring. Aqua di Selva EdC. Very old school manly fragrance, musky-woody base with a citrusy finish. Good to wear for work, even if it is a little old school for a young bloke.
 
My order from ebay of Perma Sharp blades arrived this morning so I gave one a go.
I went the whole bit with prep even with pre shave stuff.
I used Mitchell's Wool Fat soap with a Boar brush.
I used a Merkur 1904 (I think it is) as I had a new Polsilver in the Futur and didn't want to disturb it.
I did 4 passes, one in every direction and finished with Alum and after shave things of various descriptions

Well I had no irritation at all, I couldn't believe it.

I may have found my favourite blade but I will see how things go tomorrow as it may have been a great big fluke.
 
Yeah man! Once you get your technique and prep nailed down, sharp blades really kill it. They may not work for everyone because obviously everyone's skin is different, but it seems to me that the sharpness of the blade does a lot to increase the smoothness of the cutting stroke, and thus, gives both a closer shave and less irritation. PSS are up there at the top (IMO) as far as sharpness goes. If you have a Super Iridium of some sort, give that a crack after you get done with the Perma-Sharp. Between those two blades, that's at least 2-3 weeks of shaves.

I used the TOBS Jermyn Street again today. Reliability is where this stuff really kicks ass. It's fool-proof even at 6:30AM before the coffee run. I switched up my razor and went with the Krona this morning, and it is still the best thing I bought in Vietnam. Mild and constant, and really, if you're going to do at least a two-pass shave then there's no reason you can't get a smooth result with a mild razor. I did, so my run of great shaves continues. Switching to face lathering has been a great move, and the Duke 2 excels at it. It's about the perfect size for me.
Proraso white A/S balm to finish. Great aftershave. Soothing and it doesn't dry shiny on your face.

Casual Friday at work, so I rocked loafers Paco Rabanne Pour Homme as my aftershave today. I wanted to try it out, because my usual summer fragrance (Azzaro Pour Homme) is a so-called reboot of the original Paco. I like it, but it doesn't last all that well for me. The Paco Rabanne is a slightly more 'vintage' scent, stronger in the musky base notes and with a more distinct herbal finish. It's not subtle, but if you don't abuse the spray button, it's a great cool weather scent.
 
I think I love these Perma Sharps as it was another totally irritation free ,4 pass shave.
Macca root cream with GFT pre and Alum after,with which I hardly felt the burn at all.

Then AS stuff.

This is bloody amazing, I should make a video but then again not really as it would need a very severe adult rating as I swear a bit and pull funny faces in a state of partial undress.

I used a EJ (?) best badger and it seems rather floppy after a few days on the Boar.

Could I put o rings or something around the base of the knot? Or is such things seen as un gentlemanly couth.

I keep getting the urge to buy more stuff !

I've done that with a standard elastic band. An o-ring will start slipping. Or at least it did on the base of my knot. It's not uncouth (unlike using the word gentlemanly!) because it reduces floppiness which might make you enjoy using it a bit more. It does look a bit nasty I think. In my case I just stopped using the brush and ended up ripping the knot out and sank the replacement knot a lot deeper which is what I should have done in the first place. But that's another story.

There are some fantastic non-floppy re-knotted vintage butterscotch badgers for sale somewhere here I think - a much better solution :)
 
Stiff seems to be the go but with a certain caressing softness but not with a drooping flaccid limpness.

Discerning is what it is, a discerning demographic.

Oh! another great shave with the Perma sharp today, I am loving them so far.

PSS...just a great blade. Especially once the memory of the schlicky has faded a little :D

I acquired one of these lauded omega boars from Drubby. I haven't warmed to it much at all. The feel is not dissimilar to poking myself in the face with a furry crayon.
 
Perma sharp again was excellent.

GFT sandalwood soap administered with EJ ultra flop supreme BB :)

Alum and all that AS stuff, but so smooth I didn't need any balms.
