OMG! Where have the french been when I really needed them so bloody bad during my very first every wet shaving when I first joined here at P&C why?, well Monday morning I received a package I've ordered all the way from France and I got myself a Martin de Candre Scented Shaving Soap it comes in a glass jar and it quite heavy for a 200 gram very long lasting hard soap. The scent from this soap is lavender, rosemary and mint WOW :eek:, this is the most relaxing warm scent during my shave tonight has given me most the peaceful and most enjoyable experience ever.

I really must say this Martin de Candre Scented Shaving Soap is the most fastest lather hog I've every come across, well I've soak my Semogue 620 boar brush in warm water while I was in the shower getting ready. Suddenly while my brush was nice warm after I rinse out the water from my boar brush and I've pick up the jar and do a gentle circular motion for about 2mins, and the soap was building up on boar brush fairly quick and thick nice and right on time. Suddenly I was face lathering away and BANG!, I've never seen a lather was building up so fast very thick creamy and very slick lather just under 1min. and I was ready to go shaving WOW :eek:, so I went back an gently dip my boar in warm water and apply to my face again for another 10sec and wallah just to make sure. This soap has last me at least 4 or 5 pass shave and is the most enjoyable shaving soap and very quick thick lather hog I've ever come across. You MUST try the soap it unbelievable, it fantastic and most of all it incredible to have during you're wet shaving.

The colour of that brush has me very jealous.
 
Was in danger of only using three soaps this month, so swapped it up and added La Toja save stick to this months mix as the dry season seems to be starting to arrive.

/edit Oh and after @borked rant against Floid vigoroso I decided to use it today and proved that he is wrong, you just have to be masculine enough to use it.

Two pass shave with a touch up. First use of the Gummy balm which I picked up from my Turkish barber. It has a fresh scent and is mentholated so it was quite cooling. The Fine American blend has a lovely scent and face feel is wonderful. All in all a great shave.

If you want a nice approximation

52% Stearic Acid
48% Coconut oil

60% Potassium Hydroxide
40% Sodium Hydroxide
For extra slick add Hussah silk or Bentonite clay
At trace add [about] 15% weight of oils of Glycerine

Fragrance to taste at end of cook

Travel to France and allow the soap to "dry" for months in the South room of the Chalet.

This not MDC but a great simile.

Always enjoy getting out the Summer Breeze as it was soap I used for my first ever wet shave so it always puts me in a good mood for a shave. The Semogue has broken in nicely after some hand lathers and leaving the soap in over night. After 2 passes and some clean up you can see the lather shot here. Had the Fat boy set on 4 which at least for now feels like where it should be. A very nice relaxing shave.

Shave #3 for the Polsilver SS longevity test. I decided to try and bust the boredom with some less usual software choices. In the pre-shave department, I gave the Prep a go for the first time in ages. The spiel for it claims that "Prep Derma Protective Cream - [is] the best selling Pre-Post cream of its kind in Italy". In fact it was a really pleasant pre-shave, with Peppermint, Wintergreen and Thyme being the major fragrances. I decided on the eShave cream since I want to finish off the tub. The little Boar brush did an impressive job of creating a lather and provided a very decent bout of exfoliation. The shave was, yet again, a carbon copy of the first shave from this blade - there is not even a hint of edge dulling or "getting tired", and it's still delivering a smooth, close shave. After shave luxury for today was handled beautifully by the Top Seven emulsion followed by Fine's L'Orange Noir.

I think a change of pace may be on the cards for tomorrow or Friday - a nice western straight or Kamisori shave would break up the sameness :)

Superlative shave today. Everything was spot on. Just as well because I was really looking forward to this one. Yesterday, was the first missed shave since I started wet shaving in early Feb. Before that I would skip a day, hell, a week if I could get away with it! Not any more.

I had a third attempt at getting a comfortable & sharp edge straight off the Jnat. Dropped back to the 1K Chosera, make sure my strokes were smooth, consistent, slight torque to the edge etc. Moved on. Nothing seemed any different until I had gone through two nagura slurries and onto water only. After a few strokes I found the "stickiness" I had been told about and knew I had made an advance and could skip the pasted strop. Sure enough, the shave was lovely and smooth, very comfortable. WOOT! One of the best shaves todate.

Loving Diamonds and Pearls and I just have to have the song playing when I use this soap. Nice work @Anthony but can we get some more Lanolin in here?

PAA Aftershave/Cologne - excellent as always, top ingredient list, top performance. Love it.

Thanks @Mark1966 for the soap - it's a beauty. From a new UK artisan soap maker, this is a "Leather - Juniper - Tobacco" scented tallow soap with a great name and look. It was slick, protective and scented as labelled. Scent was not bad at all; certainly suits the image. A thumbs up from me.

Returning to a Leresche #77 resulted in a super smooth shave. The PAA Dejú Fougére smells terrific; a beautiful fougere with (unusually) a fruity pineapple at the front. Almost 6 hours later the scent is still wafting around; one strength of a PAA Aftershave is its longevity.
