Probably more honestly the whole experience of having a bunch of nice kit on hand to choose from!

Don't get me wrong, the Micrometric and vintage Personna blade is a nice combination. It is probably the ability to combine with the Chatillon Lux and APR products, both courtesy one way or another from @todras as I would not have tried the former without his enthusiasm about them, which takes it to the next level.

Now that I have dialled this soap in (it's not that thirsty a soap) it is very, very good. Not quite top tier (Stirling, B&M, Mike's, OSP) but about the level of Catie's Bubbles or Mystic Water for me. The Hamburg Ring edge was slightly harsh today, possibly because it's fresh off of the stones. Or, more likely, it's user error.

Do not use thinners on the handles as it will have an effect on the acrylic.

Thanks @Tony Forsyth - good call regarding the thinners. I quite like the gold lettering...Im in no hurry...will wait and think about it further.

Soap loaded no prob's but I think I pushed it a little too far with adding water, still gave a pleasant shave with no issues to report. The scent from the soap is very nice and just seems to keep hanging around. After Alun and Witch Hazel I applied the splash and found the scent very subtle very pleasing and certainly not overpowering.
Next round I will try to get the soap right

3 Days growth [I think] single pass with a Russian 11/16" half hollow and all done. My family suggested I shave or give up going to the Adelaide get together Son asked was I going for the ugly old bloke look. The truth is often the "deepest cut"
I seriously marvel at the close smooth shave from a well honed blade. A good soap and a pleasant brush.
No nicks, cuts or other unpleasantness.

Cheers Tom, Aqua Balsamic is my go to Myrsol, now buying it by the litre .

I do like the Penhaligon's scents, Boyolea, ad Sartorial being my favourites .......... some complain they don't last, but its an all day scent on my skin

I am very much appreciating the cooler weather today, a chance to indulge in a Fougère and accompanying fragrance by way of the GL. Recently I have been exploring the Italian soaps, I am leaning towards their make and manufacture with the attendant lather they produce, always rich and buttery with a glossy white sheen. The Valobra is an excellent soap, semi hard from the puck and mildly scented, it opens right up when lathered with a very Italian interpretation of a fern scent.

Two fantastic passes with the Slim, a nice warm clean up today then on with the General Ledger whose Rose Maroc notes are perfect for Valentines day, and that seats ideally with the Valobra, indeed as it does with most Fougère soaps. I am a regular balm user, I find it almost essential to preserve skin health after the rigors of a sharp blade and regular use has kept my skin in good condition and I am glad of it, particularly the extensive range of goodness in the APR balms. Come the cooler, dryer weather it will be essential for me along with Chantillon Lux's salves.
