The handle looks like a baseball bat, sounds like you’re scoring a bloody home run. Who’s winning in the American Major League Baseball playoffs?

Yes I had the hunch it was. I have included a photo which shows my F3 in what I consider VG>Exellent condition (shown on the left hand side) beside my D3 which Chris at Back Roads did in 2021. It clearly shows the difference betwwen Gold electroplating by Gillette and Gold plating being Microns thicker in the depth and colour. I have just sent another Executive Fatboy to Dustin at Back Roads Gold, as Chris has now semi-retired. I will post a photo when it is returned (y)
I got these two in 2023 from a deceased estate sale both have been restored and gold plated.
I don't think the person used them or he was meticulous about maintaining them.
No idea who did the restoration work I'd love to know (no paper work).
Cheers.

Are you tired of living?
They’re a great blade @Gargravarr.
I think they get a bit too much bad press that they don’t deserve.
As long as they’re in an efficient razor no good in a mild razor
I think more people should try them in an efficient close, shaving razor.
I’ve seen where they ranked in the blade ranking on this forum. I totally don’t agree with that ranking.
I think it’s a case as well of people jump on board and maybe bash blades before they have tried them. I’m not saying that you haven’t tried them.
Of course, this is only my opinion🙂
Cheers

I was joking, of course. If they work for you, then be happy. :D (y) I used them on and off for a few months with the R41 and the GC-JAWS, both of which I'd say are at the more efficient end of the scale, and found the quality to be a bit hit and miss.

Given that they came from the same factory as a great many highly regarded blades, I'm at a loss to understand why.

The Voshkod's remain one of my top five blades. along with the Wizamets, Polsilvers, Gilette 7 O Clock Black Ninjas and the Gillette Blue Swedes. Kai, Feather, Accuthrive and Accuforge sit just outside that top five.

To me the R41 is a blade selective razor depending on which version you are using. The 2011 and 2013 work fairly well with the Voshkod's but the 2019 or V3 onward don't, even the R41 GS under performs with it. For me the GC.84 OC and the R41 work best with a Wizamet, a Feather Or the Black Ninjas. I think I was guilty of using a mild blade in a higher efficiency or mid to high aggression razor for the longest time. The day I chucked in the best efficient and sharp blades into those razors meant a fantastic shave for me time after time, basically less passes, more stubble cleared and no post shave irritation.

For me the Voshkod works beautifully in a Muhle R89, The EJ 3ONE6, The Merkur 34 C, EJ DE89 etc. It seems tailor made for the milder razors cause even with a little bit of pressure it provides the smoothest and closest shave. The Voshkod was never meant to compete with the premium Gillette, Polsilver or Wizamet blades, it was always meant to be a fairly sharp but forgiving blade.

For years it was the chosen blade for Barbers in Russia when used in a Shavette. Just to draw an analogy, my favorite Vodka would be Beluga but speak to a local in St. Petersburg or Moscow and you'll discover that Russian Standard or Moskovskya is their go to drink, thats cause while one is premium, the other two are also superb quality and at almost half the cost.

I have a 100 Voshkod blades too and pretty much treasure them knowing that once stocks get exhausted all over, they will become a blade of the past. Having said all that, many favor blades that I don't and it comes down to the simple ender- "What works best for each one.";)

All good @Gargravarr we are all friends here, mate .
I don’t think many of us could’ve said it as well as @Bladerunner7 has said it all I know is it worked well in the few razors I’ve tried it in.
Like a lot of the blades what works in one razor doesn’t work in another it worked very well in the Parker 26c I put up in shave of the day the other day.
Cheers mate.

Good blades, but they don't last very long, maybe three shaves. The coating must be thin.
