I think this got a little blown out of proportion.
From what I got in the first post, and the title of the thread.... there was a transaction that was made, this was reneged on by the vendor and
@Vittoria was venting his frustration.
Although initially stating that it was in breach of a law, this was later raised as an error, well past the time that he could have amended his initial post, however did accept his error.
I think it was well within his rights to vent, especially as it seems to go against the generally Australian culture we seem to be familiar with: You make an error, you own it and move on.
Granted this is an option, and not mandated by law, it's the 'nice' thing to do, and for the sake of $40 on a potentially loyal, life long customer, I feel the venting of frustration was warranted.
I'm sure it would have been a different story had it been in the hundreds, or thousands of dollars, but $40ish is something that surely would be worth someone's ongoing loyalty.
I also don't really see 'hey fellas, let's boycott this vendor', more a 'buyer be ware' in a venting post. There were a couple of 'maybe chalk it up to a bad experience and cross them off your list.' posts, but no fire and pickets..
These posts should be taken in stride in the same way we post 'shout out to X vendor, I bought this, they threw this in' type threads. It lends to the credit, or judgement of a vendor.
At the end of the day, the vendor did what they're legally allowed to do, be it what we all agree on, or not, it was lawful,
@Vittoria has owned his error and we now know the 'oh shit, my bad, I'll cop that.' is just wishful thinking for some of us.
