5 favourite Soaps/Creams??

Morning all, daughter had a rough night cutting teeth so been up early doing some reading. One of the posts I found the most helpful in my first weeks here was the "top 5 favourite blades". With all the experience around, if something has made it to your top 5, it's probably worth a go.

I'm sure there's a saying like "A smart man makes a mistake and learns from it, but a wise man learns from the mistakes of others".

Of the ones I have so far
  1. Shaver Heaven - (Hot Buttered Rum) - Kicking myself I didn't order more than one to try.
  2. Proraso Green Cream
  3. Body Shop Macca Root
  4. Col Conk - Bay Rum
Reading over the reviews, there seems to be some mainstream staples (and running jokes about Arko?) such as Cella, MWF, Harris, Tabac (polarising scent), and then some artisan Mike's Naturals, B&M, MdC, Razorock which consistently receive positive remarks. Keen to see what makes it to the top of your lists.

Top 5 individual soaps/creams. I could maybe do a top 5 brands :). I need a lot of time to think and it would always be changing.
Yeah totally. Brands is kinda what I had in mind. Scents are a bonus to a great base in my opinion.

My current favourite brands are, list changes as new brands added:

1. Shaver Heaven - @Anthony makes a great soap ( current favourites Cherry Bliss, 1st Anniversary, Summer Breeze and Peppermint Plus)
2. Catie's Bubles (current favourites LPV, Le Marche De Rasage, Barnegat Bay,Waterlyptus and their fruit loops based soap)
3. Tim's Soap - great soap love all that I have which is Hybrid, Blue suit, ghostface nilla, breakfast of champions and greek peach.
4. Reef Point - only have two but both are great preforming soap - Dragon's Blood and Submariner
5. B&M - soap works great my current favourites - Diamond, Cologne Russe , Bay Rum an latha)

Soaps that just missed out but would not be out of place or soon could be in the top 5:

LPL - probably deserves to be in top 5 and on certain days could be at the top. Great preforming soap
Cold River Soap Works - Fall LE may be my favourite current soap and performance is fantastic, I am about to pick up another two soaps from this company.
Dr Johns - man their are too many good soap makers to only have a top 5. Amazing soaps.
MDC - only have one but it works great
Soap Commander - only have one but it works great.

As you can see as someone put it to me recently we are living in a golden age of Shaving Soap manufacturing.

In my past DE shaving life my top 5 were

1. Castle Forbes Lavender
2. Trumpers Violet
3. TOBS Almond
4. Mitchell's Wool Fat
5. Proraso

But as I have been away many years so many of these artisan soap makers have come along so I'm sure I'll have a different top 5 on my second journey into DE

If we're taking scent out of the equation and base the the list on performance alone then I'd say there aren't many soap brands in my experience that really underperform. The only exception to this was a stick of Lea I once had.

*The above was a total tongue in cheek comment and wasn't intended to offend anybody*

Would be a totally stupid idea, especially since they are Australian based, make a great product and have fast shipping ;)

My current favorite soaps in no particular order are:

Barrister & Mann - Lavanille/Seville
Mikes Natural - Coconut/Orange Cedarwood and Black pepper
CRSW - Fall LE/Puro Fresco
Saponificio Varesino - Colonia/Felce Aromatica
Pannacrema - Blu/Rossa

Those soaps above have excellent performance and scent and are my favorites but some others that I own that have excellent performance but not quite my favorite scents would include Tabac, Irich Moos, MWF, Proraso green, XPEC original scent, LpL Cedre Patchouli, Caties Bubbles LMR, Strop Shoppe Barbershop, L'occitane Cade rich cream, Baume.be cream.

Some products that I am yet to try but will get around to at some point are MdC, Meißner Tremonia, Catied Bubbles +, Strop Shoppe LE, Sapone Di Paolo, Mickey Lee Soapworks SE, Bufflehead, I Coloniali, LASSCO, Tim's, Mystic Waters.

Soaps have scents and scents are personal; changing with your mood. I can't put them in order as tomorrow I will feel excited by a scent I haven't smelled in a short while. My attempt is:

1. Johnny Good Sir, TMBR. Altough this is not the best performing shave soap, the whiskey scent is absolutely unbeatable.

2. Dr. Jon's, Anne Bonny. This is a very good shave soap although a bit too soft IMO. A great scent too. Who would ever have thought black tea would be a scent that works in a shave soap, but it certainly does.

3. Shaver Heaven, Desperado. If you love the scent of leather then this soap is for you. Reminds me of saddles, vests and boots. Years ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I used to do a bit of leather work; making belts and sewing vests etc. Love that scent. My wife does too, but it reminds her of handbags and upholstry in brand new cars - I can't hear you. Even though the tub I have is @Anthony's old formula, it is still a top performing shave soap.

4. Shaver Heaven, Vetiver. I love walking through Australia's bush, both the dry, eucalyptus countryside around Townsville and West plus the tropical North Queensland rainforests around Cairns and the Tablelands. Vetiver reminds me strikingly of hot, humid rainforests of North Queensland. I love that earthy, rotting vegetation smell.

5. Shaver Heaven, Spiced Mahogany. Deep, rich scent of polished timber. Beautiful. With @Anthony having nailed his new formulae this soap is sure to please.

Where would Dr Johns sit for you. I am just getting into WSP so I haven't rated it yet.
Oh shit I forgot about the Dr. Jons. Good call. It would certainly knockout the PAA. Anne Bonny is in my top three.
