Gillette slim cleanup

So my $10 Gillette slim cleaned up not too bad.

Soaked it in boiling water and dish washing detergent a few times, cleaned up with autosol, and soaked it again to get rid of the autosol in nooks and crannies.

Repainted the numbers on the adjuster knob, which came up like new.

Small pitting on the top plate has gone through to the brass so nothing to be done there short of replating.

So we ended up with a good user grade razor, the TTO and adjuster work perfectly. There is no date stamp so ii assume it's a relatively recent production.

Nice cleanup!

In the second photo I can see an 'I' stamped which is half of the date code. The 'I' stamp indicates 1963 manufacture. The number stamped on the other side of the shaft will give you the quarter of that year it was produced @Nonick

Yeah I saw that egg, what a shocker. Looks like something found down in the titanic now. Probably shaves like it too.

Ahh your right Mark, I didn't even see that!

It's I 3

So about this time 52 years ago

Yep!
