Greetings from Sydney. :)
I have been lurking this forum and a few others for a while now and ultimately have come to realise that this is the place which I want to be in regards to wet shaving. It's nice to be a part of a more local community so I find this essential for any Aussie Wet Shaver.
I still consider myself a novice in comparison to others here and around the world although I have been a traditional wet shaver for at least 10 years now.
I have several razors including DE and Shavettes.

I have a large variety of soaps, cream's and aftershaves which is enough to make me feel guilty I guess
...that is on top of the usual urge to buy a brush for the reasons of "just because" :D

Also while I am at it here I hope everyone that attended the Sydney meet had a great time, it looked like a lovely location and I sincerely wish I was able to attend but am very grateful for these opportunities being made available to us as when I started this journey many years ago it seemed very much like there was not much of a local community but proudly I can say things have changed very much since then and we now have a very fine group of people involved in many aspects such as this forum and the vendors that have managed to keep it going over the years but also those that have managed to build such remarkable stores.
I hope it rewards them with much success and for many more years to come.

I really try to mix it up (so hard to keep up with my addiction and justify all of my purchases to myself sometimes. haha) a lot but my current daily shave is as follows:
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blades: Feather (although I think this latest new blade is a dud... eh it happens I guess)
Brush: Razorock Plissoft 24mm Brush
Soap: Vulfix English Rose (Recently gave a brief reviewed on BeardandBlade)
Aftershave: D.R. Harris Windsor
Balm: D.R. Harris Windsor

I had to fall back into using the Feather Professional Artist SS Razor with a ProGuard blades today to give my face a little bit of relief. (partly also because I got Shavette happy one night and needed to experience it again)

Welcome @Rusty Bridges . I think you have some type of acquisition disorder by your quote. I've never heard of anything like that before on this forum.

I was originally apprehensive of joining this forum a few years ago for a few reasons one being I wasn't sure if I could articulate myself well enough or be able to contribute but I feel very welcome here and am proud to be here amongst a great group of people.

@Draco Noir It seems like a waste if I don't put all of my razors to work, I must admit that reading and seeing peoples enthusiasm infectious and I ttend to get the urge to try new things or kits I have and may not have given a fair chance.

It only really occured to me now but I must have subconsciously gravitated towards Italian soaps because I seem to have a lot of them. Razorock make some great value for money soaps and I cannot fault them but there are so many great soaps out there now and I do love trying them. Having said that I do feel like everyone should have at least one Razorock soap in their (for the lack of a better word) den.

I can asure you that you will be happy with both. I also own an Above the Tie Atlas R1 and have although I haven't used it enough to form a solid opinion its a great razor. Initial feelings are that it is a little more aggressive than I had expected however it is efficent razor, the Feather AS-D2 razor though is very smooth making it perfect for those with sensitive skin and as a daily shaver for me.
If you can afford it or find either at an affordable price then absolutely consider it more closely. Originally I wanted to get the Above the Tie Slant model as it recieves some very favourable remarks however it was sold out by the time I was able to purchase it. I still feel like the beast inside of me calls for the Above the Tie slant model.

I have heard that changing the base plates on the Atlas R1 does little to remedy the aggressiveness however I can't comment as I have never been able to try any other plates myself, I guess sometimes it comes down to finding the right blade to match the razor and the face.
I have found that the R1 leaves my face a bit raw and there is definite feedback when using an alum block.

Thank you for the recommendations, I definitely want to give them both a try. You are certainly right, Shaver Heaven has always seemed like a superb performer so it's a must try, given that it is made locally in Australia makes it even more exciting and interesting. I really appreciate your recommendations and I'd love to hear about it. :)
