Im an older wet-shaver, without specifically dropping my age (ok 42) I have been wet shaving for around 2 decades or so with a DE. I found this place after looking around the web a bit, mainly for an Aussie based forum rather than the proliferation of US or UK forums.

I currently run a Merkur Progress, Feathers, Simpson Brush and as many soaps or creams as my wife lets in the house. I'm big on Stirling, B+M, the English classics TOBS, GFT, St James, Castle Forbes, etc, etc, etc and have recently ordered a lot of (and highly enjoy and recommend) the Chatillon Lux post shave balms now that the dry Sydney winter has set in.

Ive been lurking on the forums for a month or so and very much like what I see, people are respectful, knowledgeable and are here to talk which suits me just fine.

Looking forward to posting SOTD, and so forth, my names Dan btw.

*edit - Ill fix the avatar and the rest up when I'm not at work

Nice setup you have, good variety. I enjoy the English classics GFT and TOBS creams myself, so great choice.

I'm only new but everyone has been most welcoming, so i'm passing the kindness back around :)

Welcome @todras - you have a great setup and I am sure you will have a great time here (y)

Which Simpson brush do you have - or is it going to be a surprise for your SOTD picture :D

Welcome mate!

If 60 is the new 40 and 50 the new 50 you are just a 21 year old really!!!

Hey - Happy shaving :)

Thanks for the welcome people, feeling a little relieved tbh that 42 is still considered somewhat youthful

I have a Simpson Chubby 1 in Super Badger alfredus, have a few others but the simpson is probably my favourite.

Nice knot on that one - congratulations!

Thanks for the warm welcome people, it means a lot. I'm particularly liking the reassurances as to my age ;)

Looking forward to posting and becoming part of the solid community you have built here!

Have you tried a Shaver Heaven soap yet?

I have not as yet and I know I should, I have both the Occams so I should give some other aussie makers a go. I do have a fair few creams and soaps that I keep telling myself I should use up before buying more..but you probably know how it goes...something new or rare comes along and you end up buying it.

One of the best options out there.
One member liquidated his USA based soap range after experiencing @Anthony new tallow range, he holds it that highly.

Welcome @todras - great to have you join in.

With 2 decades worth of DE experience, we look forward to having your knowledge add to our discussions. [emoji5]

I note that your current razor is a Merkur Progress- have you tried many vintage razors, or you simply prefer the more modern variety? Plenty of passion here for vintage as well as high quality modern stainless steel (and everything inbetween!).
