I just want to say hi to all and thanks for having me on board.

I have been wet-shaving all of my shaving life, however, I only started using a safety razor 2-3 years ago and haven't looked back. No more irritations and a hell of a lot cheaper for blades.

I look forward to checking out a lot of really useful hints and tips and finding some stuff that I may (or may not) need but definitely must have.

See you round.

Cheers,
Scott.

Welcome, and I am sure the local welcoming committee will be around shortly. You have the National Gillette Museum there on the north side. The curator @Mark1966 is a rather strange guy.

I see you are using the work connection too :censored:

@SMG welcome to the insanity.
Hope your stay is long and mutually fruitful.

There are a few membera here in your area who are eager to get a social event up and running, one being the Curator of the National Gillette Museum, I'm sure they will borh be long soon and borh are valued members here.

What equipment do you use/have stockpiled ?
Got any favourites ?

Great to have you here - welcome!

welcome mate (from Copenhagen at present) When I'm back we will have to see if we can organise a catch up with @stillshunter and a couple of others

A social event sounds really good. Id be up for that.

I reckon I am just like most other guys on here. I started with a MensBiz starter pack (Merkur 34C, sampler blades, proraso green cream and a reasonable brush). This pack got me addicted and saw me adding all sorts of other gear I needed (wanted). Now have a shaving cabinet full of good gear (and always looking to add).

My current favourite for fool proof use would have to be the proraso range. I particularly enjoy the freshness of the green.

Scent wise, I cant go past my tub of TOBS Jermyn Street cream and aftershave. Second favourite would be truefitt and hill 1805.

As well as the 34C, which I use as my travel razor, I also have a Gillette long handle Black Beauty. This is a great razor though a little light on.

I have been eying off the Mergress advertised on here and if/when I am allowed to, I would love to take it off the current owners hands.

I also have a small range of the art of shaving products which are quite nice. Particularly the sandalwood. And quite easy to use.

Blade wise, my favourite is the Astra Superior Platinum. After the sampler pack of blades I purchased a carton (100) of Astras, I just keep going back to theses as they give me the best shave in any razor. Well suited to my face.

What about yourself?

Cheers Borked. Great to chat.

Thanks Monsta. Looking forward to exploring the forum.

And pardon my ignorance, may I ask what is the "work connection". Cheers, Scott.

@SMG Monsta is suggesting you're using your works internet connection to browse here :)
As the owner and administrator for this site, he would know.
Yet never fear, he respects privacy, well as long as you're not competing against him for vintage blades ;)

Aa for me, I'm quite partial to vintage blades too and squarely lay the blame at his feet!

@Barrister & Mann (B&M) is my preferred soap, yet @Anthony from Shaver Heaven gives him a good run for his money and is local to boot.

@Occams is another Aussie that rates well.

Semogue Owners Club (SOC) boar and Thater Silbertip Badger are my go to brushes.

I use a Merkur 37c and Gillette Slim (model befote your black beauty) regularly.

As for after shaves and balms, I'm still experimenting, yet Ogallala bay rum limes and peppercorns is a staple of my cabinet, along with B&M.

Just your luck! @stillshunter works in Canberra and so would be pleased to meet up and let you have a squiz at it. I do believe he's away this week but will be back soon. [emoji6]

Thanks for clearing up the work connection. Makes sense now you mention it. I am not the most IT savvy around.

Sounds like quite a collection you have. A few things there I am thinking I might have to try out for myself.

In saying that, I found out about DE shaving when I was searching for a cheaper alternative to the $4 cartridges I was using. Definitely no regrets though. I love using the DE. Certainly reduced the amount of shaving rash I get. However the enticing stories of new products always seem to suck me in.

Still, the way I look at it, I am still way ahead money wise than if I was buying the cartridges and I am getting a shave you will never get from a cartridge.

Part of the approval process is checking where the signup comes from. I know that the signup IP address belongs to a range assigned to particular '.gov.au' entity and that's all that needs to be said there!

Anyway, thread closed since you have been promoted to full membership.
