Thanks very much to everyone. The answers and participation went above and beyond expectations. This goes a long way to helping me out with this at times touchy subject.
It's a very polarising subject with so many variables that effect decisions and therefore there is no blanket solution. Over my generation this topic has reduced considerably and this slide needs to be addressed why. The rise of grandparents roles is a big factor I've found. That and the local state school kids attended as a result of proximity like a lot of you experienced is not as common. This increased distance is a factor. I could go on and on.
Getting a more balanced gender response has been interesting and very helpful.
