Evening all... Hope everyone is enjoying this weekend filled with an overflow of sports! I'm eagerly awaiting an early morning tomorrow for the union. On to more important things.

Not exactly sure what made me start looking into DE shaving, but after reading people's experiences thought it was worth a try. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to jump in with a std kit from mensbiz. Thanks to the many constructive posts of experienced users, so far the journey has been relatively incident free :)

I've succumbed to the bug already, and ordered some more stuff (col bay rum soap, semo 1800 brush and proraso green aftershave). Now once I get a consistent technique and choose a blade, I'll probably invest in some other soaps when I pick up the bulk pack of blades. From what I've read shaver heaven and Barrister seem to be the go to ones.

Looking forward to many years of learning and exploring the shaving experience.

Welcome aboard mate...glad you're pacing yourself. The real enabling will begin once you've stuck around here a few weeks.

Welcome to the insane asylum mate. You sound as though you've got yourself a solid starting line up sorted out.

Welcome @Korbz. Was supposed to fly to Brisvegas myself today with my wife, some last minute issues at work this week stopped that. So I got to watch the AFL final today and see the NRL final tomorrow evening on TV. GO THE COWS

I'm so sorry, the Conk should not be used by anyone for shaving purposes.

lol... yeah I ordered before I got to the "3 soaps I won't buy again" thread where Conk was #1... meh less than $10 bucks and I have the proraso green cream to fall back on in the interim. The only thing I don't like about the cream is the lack of slickness and post shave feel.

Don't worry mate, it's high glycerine so you can repurpose as a pre-shave soap.

Welcome mate - off to a good start!

Welcome @Korbz - I see you are already searching for 2 very important attributes: slickness and post-shave feel - I hope your search will be successful soon - in the mean time enjoy the journey!

I was thinking about a pre-shave soap, and didn't even consider that as an option. Thanks!

Ohh... and whilst I tried to resist, darn "scratch 'n' dent" sale at shaver heaven, just had to order a tub of hot buttered rum. $12.50 - bargin

@Anthony 's stuff is absolute magic. Noting the postage costs a little less than $10, at $12.50 a tub you might as well make it more worth your while and buy a few more flavours at that price mate.
.....that's more in keeping with the spirit of this place.

It's slick. More water needed. That will fix the PS feel, unless menthol isn't your thing.

Thanks Drubbing, will try that tomorrow morning. I don't have anything to benchmark it against so not sure what I'm talking about yet... That will change soon enough lol
