NOTICE: Upcoming change of domain name to paste-and-cut.com

Hi P&C Members;

After many years, I have decided to make some changes to the forum. Some of these decisions are ones that I have made voluntarily, others have been forced upon me to make a decision. This decision is one of the latter.

With some specific changes in policy regarding .AU domains by auDA as the authority that makes the rules for all .AU subdomains, I am blocked from renewing the existing domain without significant cost & effort to regain the eligibility requirements to do so. This forum is nothing more than a hobby paid for by my own pocket and I do not earn a single dollar of revenue from Paste & Cut, so that additional cost to maintain the existing domain is simply unwarranted.

I have taken the decision to move the site to https://paste-and-cut.com in the near future.

• This domain is now registered and is set up as a secondary domain on the webhost. If you go there now, the site should work just fine with a new login with your credentials.
• Our admin@paste-and-cut.com email is already up and running, and all replies will now come from that address. Any email to the .AU domain is being redirected there. Forum-generated emails (Account signup, PM notifications, Daily digests etc) will continue to be generated from, and contain links to the old domain for a short time.
• We will be registering the new domain with a fresh Google Search & Analytics account after issues moving to Google Analytics 4.
• The email on the backend is being re-architected in an effort to improve deliverability to Hotmail & Yahoo email addresses specifically.
• You are going to see a more global focus and try to attract more members around the world.

The change in domain will be slowly implemented including complete redirection prior to the domain expiry date of Jan 26, 2025 (Australia Day) to help with Google Search records. The existing paste-and-cut.com.au domain will not be renewed at that time. There is no real concern over the site or software having issues as it is built on domain-agnostic code, however hard-coded links in posts that you all have added will likely cause issues. After the full cut over I will try doing a full search & replace on the database for those.

What you can do to help this transition:

• Start using the new domain immediately.
• Update any bookmarks or other shortcuts to the forum with the new domain.
• Any links you post to internal pages or posts, please remove the .au from the URL in the link.
• Keep an eye out for anyone saying they cannot find the site and let them know the new URL.

30/11/24 Changes:

• Login issue resolved - templates not upgraded via Xenforo.
• Extensions updated.
• Theme reverted to default, new build and import of Paste & Cut theme. Now has dark mode, will auto-select if device/OS is set to dark mode (Windows instructions here, or manually choose via https://paste-and-cut.com/community/misc/style-variation).
• New domain added to hosting.
• New admin@ mailbox created & configured. Old mail migrated and old mailbox forwarding to the new.
• SSL Cert updated to contain new domain FQDNs.
• Banner notice added.
• Review of log errors.

02/12/24 Changes:

• New Google Search & Analytics account.
• Linked new account to Xenforo
• Updated analytics tags to GA4 tags. Tested working.
• Additional DNS records for future email relay change.
