Saltlake soaps

Not very many Aussie soap makers hang around longer, isn’t easy to make money when the Aussie inflation rate are too high at the moment, which is really sad and the Aussie wet shavers isn’t very large enough like the American.

The reality is that the market here is just not big enough to run a sustainable shave soap business long term. If you can get your product in to other markets it is a big win but because of shipping costs you either take a large hit in profit margin or your product ends up being in the premium proce range overseas (or both).

I've toyed with the idea of doing something on an extremely limited release basis but ultimately it feels like it would not be worthwhile.

Great shame about Salt Lake. Good soaps. I have a few.

Squadron. Blue Devil. Australian Private Reserve. All gone.

Stuga in Sydney still going I see. I do love its product.

Best Aussie soap I’ve used recently was Claymore - by Lupus Rex. Really thick tallow similiar to Moonsoaps. Worth a look if you get the chance
Are they reselling Washpool pucks? The ingredients list for the unscented is identical.

They still make'em puck and tub

I only noticed because I’ve just been browsing Washpool’s website at the same time. If it is the same, it’s a great way for me to try it without shipping costs as Lupus Rex is based where I live.

@Errol I hope the full sample set of their No’s 1,2 & 3?

For someone who thinks he has a poor sense of smell, the aroma in the show room certainly let me know that I can smell some things. Magnificent. Washpool have a bit of everything. I came away with a couple of tubs of shave soap, body soaps and some jam. Used the Lemongrass Lime - Lemon Myrtle yesterday and for my first time it was good, see how it improves now that that the crust has been softened. If you’re travelling through Stanthorp, I’d recommend you call in.
