Hmmm yeah sorry but I'm calling 'Bullshit' on the seller here......
- it doesn't look like stainless steel to me, looks more like a cheap alloy of some type thats been cast - using proper stainless steel would require a LOT of specialist machining and look very different e.g the Weber, Feather ones - this has that light cheap sheen of materials other than SS.
- the above said there's HUNDREDS of different grades of SS and even if this was SS I'm sure it'd be something uber-nasty and so likely to rust and stain very easily - unlike the marine grade SS's used in other known brand SS razors.
- it's clearly a copy of the
Merkur 1904 - and I'd say would surely shave worse than this - the cheapest of any Merkurs, so thats not promising for it's usability.
- So we're to believe that the item has been made in Solingen, Germany and now is essentially only sold back in Turkey???? Sorry thats crap and a blatant case of a seller of something razor/knife related just stamping Solingen on the item to give it more 'street cred' as most users still associate Solingen with it's past exploits in making such products - I'd be sure this was made in Turkey as German products are very often made there BUT I don't think this is anymore German than the rainbow lorikeets in my front yard. This is a cheap razor masquerading as something made in Germany.
Worth the risk at $10 but not at that price - I'd be very surprised if it was anything but absolute junk.
PS. I reckon the head is cheap stamped SS - similar to the Feather Portable - cheap and nasty - the handle would be non-SS, cast Zamak/cheap alloy.
You're right SS is perfect for razors but it can't be cast in the same way as Zamak etc and so requires a lot of expensive machining and skilled manufacture. The most obvious evidence that this razor is not SS is that everyone at BnB were up in arms that the Weber SS razor was selling for ~$70! When the other known SS razors were all closer to $200!
Haha so what do you think the chances are that this is actually SS and then even vaguely usable? And thats your answer IMHO.
