Straights - Works in Progress

Well I couldn't work out where else to put it so here it is,
The first images show two razors ready for honing. One is half of a Farrier's rasp, the other is an unknown steel (likely L6 or 1084). Both are hollow ground.

The last image shows the latest three in progress. Two more traditional straight razors, and a western style Kami. One of the razors is the other half of the rasp from the first image, the other two are 1084 and 15n20 Damascus

@Robbie d I like the proportions of the Kami. Any idea when it will be tempered and ready to be honed?

I'd say probably in the next month or so. I might grind it a little more before I straighten the handle and harden it.

might be a weird question but what are you using to grind the blades ?

@Robbie d we may have to organise a honing day when you do your final grind etc. I wish I had talent - all I have is whiskers !!

@PapaDooks I use a belt grinder to do the grinding. Against a platen to establish the bevels and then on a wheel to grind the hollow into the blade.

The kami is with @bald as at the moment for a honing (see http://paste-and-cut.com.au/community/threads/my-future-sotd.2342/#post-58984) , I didn't have time, the other damascus one is awaiting scales (weekend job hopefully) The farrier rasp one hasn't yet been heat treated or final ground. I'll put pics up later tonight.
