This may be a passing thought, or even an unrealistic goal, but let's assume for a moment that I'm happy to get rid of all my current razors and stick with just one for the rest of my life and then to pass on to my son for him to use through his life.

Given the sale of my collection should raise a few dollars lets assume that money is, pretty much, no object. It also needs to be a razor that I can use every day AND it will last my lifetime (which the Death Clock says will be in only 14 years time, the AMP calculator gives me another 11 years!)

Go your hardest guys - I've not got much time to work this out it seems!
 
So you are retiring this thread too.

Are there any other rules to this game besides unobtainium, daily shaver and will last forever (¹⁴+ years)?
 
Whatever you've the most emotional attachment to.
 
Really, I don't think spending crazy money on a razor makes it any better, its all about the shave and unless it's proportionally better then It's money wasted,
The problem with emotional attachments in my mind is that while that razor may mean a lot to you it may not mean a lot to your son for the same reasons, it would be important for him to form his own attachment, make an occasion of giving it to him or making it known why your giving it to him if he's into wet shaving.

I'm fortunate enough to have my Dads ball end tech and although he wasn't into wet shaving it means a lot to me, the same is true of his guitars.

For a specific suggestion on a razor I think an aristocrat #15 would be the best choice knowing the little that I do about you :)

That is at least a week old that thread - us old folk forget you see...

No other rules - just thinking out aloud ...
 
Well those are some gloomy old calculators! I tried them out and it seems I might outlast you, but not by enough to make stainless Steele a requirement. So on that note maybe the model T, even with the zamac doors, might do the trick, it is adjustable which I think is definitely needed for a one razor regime. Only problem is it may not get here within 11 years!

Yeah, I didn't like them much either!
 
might sound boring but for me i could happily live out my life only using my rockwell 6s. i have other razors i enjoy using time to time but always come back to it for its ease of use and great end result. i can easily see it out living myself and both my children as well. only caveat is i haven't tried any of the high end unobtaniam razors and im honestly not likely to either
 
Just did those tests out of curiosity...
Based on our calculations you will die on: Friday, 30th July 2049 for the death clock
AMP gives me 20 years.

You know the answer @Mark1966 - a straight and some hones. You may not live any longer but the increased natural endorphins and the sense of achievement will make whatever remains enjoyable. (y)

Well one reason I got back into DEs was that as I've aged my facial skin and hair have changed.
Also as we get older our joints do too.
Taking that into account I'd stay away from a straight and would have you ponder an adjustable DE/SE (Rockwell 6S included as an adjustable).
Would also consider a TTO/two piece easier to load a blade in (except Guerrilla). But a three piece gives someone with arthritis/other mobility issues to use a larger width handle.

The answer can only be a BBS-1 and if money is no object, you need the Ti version :D :D :D
