Hey Gents,

My love of Rockwell razors has extended to the recently released Blue and Red versions of their killer 6S model.

The first thing I noticed is the razor, whilst maintaining the same dimensions, seems more refined and a tighter finish. I can’t explain it but compared to my original 6S from 2016, I got this feeling from these new models.

They retain the heft of the 6S (118 grams) and the perfect balance. It’s a really easy to handle razor and I don’t really feel the heft in my hands due to it being so well balanced.

Some say the point where the blade is clamped is too far back from the cutting edge. This may be true for many other razors on the market, but for the 6S, one major difference is that the cap bends the blade a lot more on the Rockwell. This really helps to keep the blade rigid and reduce blade chatter. Even on the R6 setting which I use as a daily driver, the blade feels very tight and smooth.

Looking at the colours, I really feel the razors look a lot better than the photos show on the website. The blue version has a bit of shine to it where the red is a deep, matte red.

The red 6S may just be my favourite of the lot! The PVD coating is perfect on both versions and honestly, both are stunning. The colour and finish is just awesome and nicer than what I expected. I am pleased to see the quality of the PVD coating is at the level of the Jet Black version, which is amazing!

If you are a long time fan of the 6S, you really owe it to yourself to add these to your collection. If you are considering your first 6S, I hope this and my previous reviews help you to decide which version you may enjoy the most.

I have been a fan of the 6S (and 6C) since the first time I used it. I have many other razors in my den but the 6S is a model I consider perfection in every way!!

Sorry, traditionalist here - these simply look wrong, all wrong.

I have the original 6S and it's probably the last razor I would ever get rid of.

It's a perfect razor for me (with the right blades) so I have no need for any more but these colours look great. Much better than that newfandangled modern birch handled stuff some people go for. Whoever thought that wood was an appropriate look (or material) for a razor? It's certainly not traditional - how can anyone complain about the (non-traditional?) coating on these if they're holding a wooden handled razor at the same time???

As far as I'm concerned, razors should be 100% made of stainless steel... it's the perfect material - the right amount of heft for balance and stability to help with technique, doesn't shatter if you drop it, completely inert and even the threads will outlast the user.

I know some just don't like the looks of the 6S and that's fine - looks are subjective. I personally love the form as it follows the function (as it should) and the function is fantastic!

I wonder how the coating will hold up over time?

Wish it was anodised, it would have had a nicer finish

My 6S black has had no issues so far with the coating and I have no reason to doubt the blue and red coating.

I don't know the technicalities nor the reason of why PVD is chosen over anodised, perhaps there is a significant cost difference?

The original is awesome!

The 6S is the last razor I would get rid of too.
It's just perfection!

Although if they released slim base plates that are not reversible, I'd buy the R6 in every colour in the blink of an eye!!

Well... funny you mention this, my *cough* 2nd christmas present to myself "from Santa" will be the Muhle Rocca, in all stainless.

I'm not a fan of the wood or black finish. Each to their own.

I might make it from the kids to me, that way I'll get less yelling about "another razor", "how many do you need".. blah blah
