Is there such a thing? Had an email from a guy I know who deals in second hand and collectable asking if I was interested in a couple of razors. One straight, one DE. Photo of the DE below.

I'm keen on getting some vintage stuff. Even if it's nothing special just because I like old stuff. That said, it would e good to get an idea of what I was looking at before I commit to a price since I really have I idea. I could pester you lot, but a handy reference would be good as I learn what's what.

You might want to read this sxot - Buying Vintage Razors - a primer

It links to Mr-Razor's website which is one of the best resources around. There are a couple of books, Krumholz and Waits but that website is better.

Alternatively I'm happy to ID and help.

That is a Flare Tip and probably a Rocket if made in England or SuperSpeed if Made in the USA

Adding to Mark's expert advice is this site, Mr Razor, that I use to help me identify vintage Gillette razors.

Gillette colour coded the those Flair Tip handles according to level of aggressiveness (and weight I think?).

Red = most aggressive, Silver = mid-range, Blue = Mildest
