[RANT]

It has been a couple of days and I'm still peeved about this so thought I would rant here to get it out of my system.

This Eclipse Red Ring was listed on eBay a couple of nights ago.

The seller had previously listed a couple of razors and I'd done my usual routine of messaging and indicating that I'd prefer that the auction run but if they were after a quick sale and had a BIN price in mind to let me know. So when this one came up I messaged just to confirm that this would be what he did.

A couple of hours later I noticed that the auction had finished with a BIN of $40!!!! So I messaged again asking what had happened as he usually doesn't do BINs and this seemed very low. The seller indicted that a person has told him that they are using for personal reasons and really wanted it and pulled on his heart strings. The buyer had indicated:

'I'm looking for a nice old safety razor to use and the one you have looks pretty good. Would you be interested in $40 plus postage cost'

The user ID looked familiar - and sure enough it is a long-term and well know B&B member - who often seems to get great deals. Now I know from watching his listings that he sold another Red Ring for $US305 recently...

So this is how he gets his good deals.

I enjoy a bargain as much as anybody else but this seems to cross a line to me.

You got that wrong Mark. They're all gentlemen over at B&B.

... and I have to be honest, if it was originally listed with a $40 BIN I would have snapped it up - but I think that is different (maybe not?). If I'd had the chance I would have offered $100. Still on the low side but with only one pic there is always a risk and I'm not sure when (not if) it is resold it will attract $300 either.

I've purchased from this guy too - he gives no favours....
