Can I please get your thoughts on pre shave oils? Good ones available in Australia. Is it worth trying to make my own etc
Sorry if you have already seen this on FB groups
Everyone is different but pre-shave oil really work wonders for me!!
In harsh winters and also the season change from winter to summer when it's very dry, my skin takes a beating!
No matter which soap I use and which or how many "skin conditioners" it contains, it's still an alkaline soap, so it doesn't help my skin.
Three drops of pre-shave oil and the shave is more comfortable, smoother and much closer!
My DIY mix is:
- 50% grapeseed oil
- 30% abyssinian oil
- 20% jojoba oil
- a few drops lemon Myrtle EO
I wet my face, and then rub the oil in until absorbed. I wait a few minutes and then proceed to face lather.
DIY VS commercial...
I've tried so many commercial shave oils and can confidently say they are just not worth it.
The only commercial oil I would recommend is somersets because their formula is great and the scent is heavenly but at $20/35ml, it's expensive compared to DIY.
I will give this a go @nav1 . Where can you get the ingredients.
I use Coconut oil when straight razor shaving, warmed slightly and rubbed on pre shave. I also make my own pre shave mix which is basically an oil rich soap solution which I use intermittently depending on whether I'm looking for a little extra protection or no.
