Do you like waxdots on razorblades or not - tell us why

I Just did a quick check with a fatboy, slim, black beauty, and a Rockwell Model T.

The fatboy, slim, and the black beauty all have exposed blade tabs when a blade is seated. I cannot see an issue here as the blade tabs can be used to pivet the blade loose if stuck. The Rockwell Model T has no exposed blade tabs and the blade is seated on the inside of the razor head when the doors are shut. When opened I can see a potential for the blade to get stuck if its like any of the blades I have recently used.

i have just gone through my pile of razors (fat boy, variously techs, 40s super speed, Karve, futur heck even a jack the barber thing from Coles) and the only one that gave me grief was the r41 with an Astra-
I tried a nacet in the r41 after and had no issue.
not something I had actually ever looked at but yep, the astra does seem to be the stickiest yet discovered in this new hostile frontier.

OK, maybe I'll just send it off the rails on both counts ;)

Flaunting your ridiculously fast line speed in your avatar is just a little tasteless, given that some of us have to put up with a connection 1/10th of that bitrate... :oops:

Yes- obviously the tension here is born out of envy for marks line speed.

OK, just completed my mandatory P&C PC Sensitivity Training and have "woke"-en up to my error.

I realise now that I should not make any mention of the 1000/400 connection which I could sign up to at any time just for the day and instead seek to empathise with my brother and sisters suffering in internet backwaters.

Oh bugger, better ban me from this thread too
 
I have a random one for you all on why I dislike the wax dots.

I use a texta to write the day of when I put the new blade in so I know not to go over 3 to 4 shaves with it, e.g. Sun, Mon etc etc. The dots on some of the blades are positioned in a crappy spot or a too large and it messes up my texta!

May I suggest the trick of using a die or dice to keep track? That way, it doesn't matter how wet your hands are or how waxy your blades... :)
 
Given my recent attempts at pushing my blades, the question is academic. If I ever get to the stage where I can't count as far as two, I'll probably have to give up and put away all my razors for good...
 
I saw a simple ingenious method with small magnets stuck to the rear of shaving cabinet or door
One for each day and just hang the blade on the appropriate magnet. I suspect you could hang multiple blades on the same magnet
Although wrapping them back in the wrapper is a safer option 🤕
 
I don't mind the wax dots tbh but don't really have a strong opinion either way.

based on some of the comments in this topic it does seem to be common practice around here to place the blade 'wax up', that's how I do it and probably how Mr Miyagi did it too, unless he used a kamisori.
