Greatest admiration and respect to @eggbert for leading the way!How many years am I on now? This will be my 5th calendar year I think, but it’s already been 4.5 years since I felt the need to buy anything but a replacement brush after my omega 10005 fell apart.
I was smart and made sure to stock up on APR & Squadron Soaps with plenty to see me through many a Sabbatical.Interesting I went back to that thread and had a read. There is no way in hell I would go on a sabbatical with all the great APR releases that were happening at the time. Makes sense why they cracked.![]()
I just checked back into 2016 and it seems that I didn't even last a month!
A butterscotch Wee Scot got me!
Well worth the sacrifice @Mark1966 I finally have a "wee scot" on the way.
To me at least, that is a sign of a great product, the length of time it takes to fully appreciate the craft that went into creating the end product and the various nuances within that formulate the final product in its entirety.I have a feeling all those APR products would be lost on me. It's not that my sniffer isn't up to scratch: I'm a master cheesemaker, and have been a cheese judge on many occasions, it's just that I'm coming to the conclusion that my olfactory senses appreciate simpler scents.
My memory is suggesting that I'm to blame, pointing one for sale out to you, yet very likely is wrong.I just checked back into 2016 and it seems that I didn't even last a month!

I'm sure you're right, and I'm willing to take the plunge. Trouble is, I'm married to someone who is not, so I take common ground where I can find it.To me at least, that is a sign of a great product, the length of time it takes to fully appreciate the craft that went into creating the end product and the various nuances within that formulate the final product in its entirety.
Off topic, but not, why am I no longer able to find a smoked blue brie?

SWMBA is an excellent justification for all and sundryI'm sure you're right, and I'm willing to take the plunge. Trouble is, I'm married to someone who is not, so I take common ground where I can find it.
I've had smoked brie, and I've had blue brie, but TBH not together. However, it's not that hard to smoke cheese at home. A bit of ingenuity and lots of duct-tape will get you there, or YouTube if not. The only thing you need to bear in mind is that for cheeses, your smoke must be no warmer than about 20°C.
When I was living in Perth, I used an improvised arrangement with an old hot-smoker to generate smoke which I puffed (with a mattress pump) through a coil of copper pipe from Bunnings, cooled in a plastic clam-shell pool full of ice-water into an esky where I had my racks of food.
Who wouldn't be when seeking to aid someone break a sabbatical when they've such an extensive collection as you have mate, and such as specifically small list of items being sought, vintage at thatYes, you were the enabler - and very pleased you were too!

I think there was someone else who had been going 18 months before I stopped buying superfluous crap.Greatest admiration and respect to @eggbert for leading the way!![]()
