What Did You Learn From Your Straight Razor Shave Today?

With SR shaving we tend to learn a little more with each shave. Here you can help others with what you have learnt.

Fingers have bones in them to stop an SR slicing through.

I learnt this this afternoon while doing a little maintenance on one of my SR's. Not too deep as it was on the top of my finger. Nothing a bandaid couldn't take care of.
 
Don't know why this is in the Safety Razors section. I'm sure that I posted it in the Straight Razor section. The moddies must know best 🤔.

I can think of none of these snippets of sage wisdom that are not equally applicable to shaving with any kind of edge... :whistle:
 
Well, I did learn to use a straight, and for several years used a Western kamisori that I made for myself (too lazy to bother with scales) out of a chunk of damascus I had lying around. I stopped when I started shaving my head.
