With the warm weather recently, Passiona for some reason is making a comeback.

To be honest, this purchase was actually a mistake - I thought I was reaching for the Ardbeg 10yo ($88.95 at Dan's) and I wasn't thinking at the checkout, so ended up spending quite a bit more. Oops. But never mind, it was an opportunity to learn something.
Like most of Ardbeg's products, An Oa has no age statement, which has long since ceased to bother me. But then, I don't mind drinking my whisky while it's young and vigorous. Here, they've married whiskies of several cask types, most obviously including PX to create a draught with a rich sweetness to balance all the smoke you'd expect from the Bog. If Ardbeg didn't stake its reputation on not using colouring (E150a is legal for Scotch without declaration in most markets) I would have guessed that it has been coloured, but PX and charred oak will also do that.
Given a choice, I would rather have the Uigeadail (Oogie), but that's no longer as cheap as it once was, but this is a fine dram nonetheless and well worth trying.
It's a nice touch for them to have left it at cask strength.
Just in from a nice hike, got the fire going and a roast in the oven. Then I thought why not a nice whisky. Just opened this Longmorn and it is a great apple forward Speyside.

I could get to like this. Fuck that, I already do. Peated doesn't usually go with Speyside, but this one's an exception. There's a young lady (that is to say, 48) who visits is from time to time, and drinks about as much as I do, so an evening can get very expensive. This punches well above its price.

I haven’t seen this bottle for 14 years, just go easy, it’s very drinkable and easily disappeared right down bottom of the bottle.
My nephew gifted this to me for Christmas. Just WOW. I usually enjoy a little filtered water with a whiskey but this is very drinkable straight.

On our last overseas trip as a family my son was of drinking age and I introduced him to European beers.
Since then we have been sporadically working through a range of international and craft beers from our local, tonight's is in line 115 on the spreadsheet -
It scored an 8 from both of us for what it is worth.

Aberlour A'bunadh Single malt scotch. Keeping a semblance of patriotism by enjoying it in a Waterford Colleen glass.

No whisky for me tonight, but I really like this Christmas present from Mrs Gargravarr...
The folks at Killara distillery suggest serving this chilled over cut strawberries or with a "splash" of tonic. The former does nothing for me (or the strawberries), but I really like it by itself in the traditional Genever style. This gin has barrels of flavour. I'm certain it would make a fantastic G&T, but it seems a bit of a waste, sort of like Lagavulin and Coca-Cola.

He asked if I've ever tried the French beer from Aldi as he would get me a case of that instead.
He then couldn't understand why I said no and refused to help him.
