I might have to have a look through my red gum pile that's seasoning in the backyard for next winter

Cheap and effective.
You could also drill a hole horizontally and then cut half way through the hole to have a multi purpose razor stand
Something like this:

I like to crack the cap and lay the razor horizontally to allow the blade to dry throughout the day

Good idea but I only have limited room so I went for the vertical option.
