First use of the Erskine, thanks @stillshunter, lathered up the LPL perfectly. Another very close, easy shave with the 37c. Also first use of Myrsol Aqua Balsimica, perfect follow up to the LPL, very nice scent and great face feel.

The 630 would also be worth looking at. Same handle, slightly higher loft (@filobiblic disliked the 620's short loft), and higher grade bristles (semogue grade their boar bristles), but may not have quite as much backbone, as it has 90% of bristles at full length as opposed to 75% for the 620 (Semogue rate their brushes on the % of tops. The lower the number, the supposedly more backbone, as the slightly shorter ones help to prop up the rest). The 630 also doesn't have that stupid fake badger stripe painted on.

I had a SOC and a 2000 - both way too floppy for face lathering imo - they both splayed way too much.
Hate fake badger stripe as well - so which semogue should I try that is a soft as a badger?

Thanks mate, I'll be sure to bore y'all with my @Drubbing -esque SOTDs involving daily repetition of razor and blade...though I'll mix up the software a bit. The #620 is breaking in a little slower than I'd expected, but now I know Smogs take a little while I am excited as it has so much potential. It's going to make a phenomenal face latherer I reckon.

Mate I'm with you on the fake badger line - I reckon they should be out and proud! Be a boar!!!! But I hear the 620 softens up better than the 630

As above mate re: stripe. Have you thought about the 1305?

Time for some Bay Rum action. Chubby make a meal of the Mike's. The NEW cleaned up the stubble. The CCBR was the finishing touch.

After 3 late nights when I was just too beat to do the usual evening straight I turned in earlier as per usual. To celebrate I brought the TMBR back into use: just really like that scent. I've noticed that the home made Bay Rum does retain the scent for a few hours; just not as pronounced as other A/S's I had been using. Hopefully the batch that is due out in another 17-18 days will have a stronger scent.

Buoyed by that photo of @stillshunter 's Semogue 1305. My plan is to fast track my Cerda to get them same split ends and hooks. Performing well for a brush that's been used about 5 times. Many lathers to go before it begins to ripen.

LPL is very slick and cushiony for a vegetable based soap. The best rose scent to my nose of any soap or cream.

1305 splays still way too much for my taste...

Seems like the 610 is the obvious choice? Any other recommendations and where is the best place to get one?

I don't know, some guys bang on about the AS-D2 getting better with the shaver's experience - think our @Young Buck is one of 'em. Well today's shave was 100% better than yesterday's. Used more angle (biased towards the top plate) and I got smoother and closer. An early observation, though I only got partial BBS with yesterday's shave, I had less stubble this morning than I have for some time. I think I've only experienced this with the R41 (2011). But that comes with harsh monastic training, the Feather is so gentle. This both odd and very interesting indeed. This is going to be quite the adventure...

Post-shave: Alum and Neiva Sensitive After Shave Splash

Two pass shave today. Used Wickham for the first time and faced lathered with it, might need to load a bit more next time I use it but it has a great scent and feels great on the skin.

I might need to get some better after shave products in the future but I have been spending too much on soaps lately ;)

When you can achieve the blindfolded BBS and apply fine snakebite then you are ready grasshopper.

Pretty much a perfect 2 pass shave today. The Erskine really shines as far as bowl lathering goes, worked up gobs of Sandalwood goodness in no time. The Merkur and English Wilky seem to be perfect for each other, no nicks, irritation or any problems to speak of. I got no stinging or tingling from the alum. The Skinfood just topped off a great shave. Very happy.

Easy lather, beautiful scent and just melts the hair away. For those who have this soap coming don't be afraid with the water as it's definitely needed to get the best out of it.

Silly, silly, silly. After last night's great straight shave I got a bit careless and forgot I'm holding a very sharp tool in my hand. Nothing too drastic but in my rush and lack of attention I had a small nick on one cheek and one on the throat. Just a nick but the DIY Bay Rum certainly let me know to be careful next shave. Love that sting; makes traditional shaving that much more manly. Hoping @MrT's Soap Commander soaps turn up in the post tomorrow. Don't particularly want to wait till next week but as @eggbert and @Ybbor will tell you, living in Northern Australia equals learning to be patient.
