One razor, one brush, one soap

There's somebody with a gun to your head giving you 2 seconds to pick one razor one brush and one soap. Which would you pick and why? None of this: "If I had to pick one of my....", and then go on and list each and every one of your favorites. I also realise there are some sad sacks out there with only one razor/and/or brush and/or soap and there is at least one that I know of with at least 215 razors. Mine:

Razor: Souplex open comb razor. I would much rather take an SE but I use this to trim around the mo so I'm always using it anyhow unless I want the thing to grow in to my nostrils.

Brush: Vulfix 2189 boar/badger. The most perfect sized face latherer I've got.

Soap: Tabac. Enough said. Has to be one of the best lathers I've yet encountered and I love the smell.

Why would someone hold a gun to your head and ask you to choose shaving items? What sort of people are you hanging around with, they sound very odd.

I only have 2 razors, so that's easy. I'll take the HD every day of the week. And I do.

Soap - Cella. I'll forgo nice scents and stuff for something that's all too easy to load and lather. I could say the same about Speick, but Cella wins because I can get a kg for cheap.

Can I get back to you on the brushes? I have to find them all before I can pick one. When I do find them, it could still take a while...

Simple.

Brush: Simpsons Chubby 1 (thanks for talking me into getting one Drubbing)

Soap: Cella, because being 'Marco Down Under' I had to pick it, but if for any reason it wasn't available Speick would be next, followed by Tabac :D

Razor: OK, now you have got me, can I get back to you on that one?

Hmm, maybe not so simple, #15, #16, HD Rocket, Aristocrat Junior, President, Eclipse Red Ring,

Nah, I will go the British Aristocrat #16. Superbly balanced hefty beast in beautiful glistening rhodium plating, ahhh

Very limited experience but never mind
Brush: My el cheapo chinese badger - big enough to cover the face, soft enough not to scratch it.

Soap/Cream: Havent had a lot to compare evrything to but in terms of lather for effort, Bluebeards Revenge wins.

Razor: Again little experience but my Slim I am finding very nice.

And the best part of these choices (for us limited income types) is the cost - The brush about $5.00, the razor about $5.00 and the Bluebeards was a PIF. (Not that I wouldn't like to try the more upscale stuff but it must wait for the lottery win.) Oh and totally off topic, Mark thank for the Ladies Gillete (I did check it out) have passed on to my lovely wife and she loves the ability to get to new places with the longer handle (and not like that you dirty minded buggers). So we both have had a win with it )>

Brush: Semogue 2010 LE badger, I have to justify buying it !

Soap: Proraso, nearly said Arlington but just cant imagine a world without proraso

Razor : Kai Captain Excelia, I do 90% of my shaves with it these days.

I just checked out the Kai Captain Excelia. Wow...what a weapon. You could very easily turn round and kill the dude holding the gun to your head with that baby.

I think I've got 2 of the 3 nailed down.

The Merkur 34C - I have blades I prefer with it for sure but day in day out this delivers easy and close shaving.

Soap - I've been enjoying the cella but it is still MWF for me. Since I have just started picking the puck up and rubbing it on my face like a shave stick I have had zero lathering issues with it.

Brush is still WiP. I seem to be quite OK with a face mop. Maybe I will try one of those bigger Kents (BK8?) at some point.

Should I send you my Semo' 730HD for a burl? The BK8 will be denser I reckon, but probably softer and moppier. The Semo has some backbone but I wouldn't be using it with soaps!

This thread is easy. In what I own right now:
Slim (and my GBE's) + Muhle PureBadger + Jermyn cream. Could happily run that combo every day and not have a care in the world.

If it could be anything:
Mergress XL + Chubby + GFT Coconut soap.

I'd have crack at the 730HD but not sure we're allowed to talk about Semogue anymore here  Brushona non gratis with the grumpybeards :P

I read your piece on TOBS Jermyn. You sounded like drubbing waxing lyrical on Arlington!

Merkur Progress + T&H Badger + Jermyn St Cream with whatever blade I am allowed.

It's a good brush, but with a pricetag to match. There might be some cup grubbiness going on but it is extra dense. Seems to work well but it does put quite a bit of badger hair in your face and it feels HUGE while lathering up. Might use it in the morning just to give it a run.

Jermyn is seriously good stuff. I haven't tried Arlington yet but will do so just to see what Drubs is smoking. Might only be a small tube of cream but at least I will have tried it.

Still lovin it. My ardour is only dampened by the fact the cologne is like a govt. employee - only manages to work for half a day. The AS is great too, But I'm waiting to run some stuff down before getting some. But I think the Sandalwood will get in first.

I'll swap you a sample pot of Arly, for some Jermyn?

Sounds good. Let me work one of my sample pots out over the next couple of shaves and I will post it out.

I may even be able to send a sample of the AS....

Razor: Mühle R89

Brush: Simpsons Chubby 2 in best (*)

Soap: gee that's hard. It would have to be Speick. Spent a few minutes thinking about that. If forced to use the same thing every day, then for me it has to be a shave stick for the convenience.

(*) I don't own this and have never used it, but if forced to pick one for the rest of my life, I'd take a punt on this rather than accept what I've got.

Simpson Tulip 1 in Super. Nice feel and works well, but I'd like something larger. Especially a larger handle, which I don't think the Chubby provides, otherwise I might have bought one by now.

As it is, I'm stopping myself from any further purchases for a little while.

Oh a big brush dude. I'm the opposite. I use my brushes with the little pinky up in the air, as you would drinking from a petite bone china tea cup. I'm forever looking for small and smaller brushes. What I'd really like is a vintage Simpson Wee Scot, the very first version, generally referred too as the Nano Scott. It's about 20% smaller than the current Wee Scot and even Ken Doll would consider it a wee bit small. I'm assuming he's called Ken Doll, being married to Barbie Doll and all. Or maybe they're not married and what is being portrayed is the classic all American love interest between the college cheerleader and the team's quarterback and all the fatties and nerds can go away and die. Never thought of it that way. What a savage derailment of thread. I'm proud.

So if barbie is made of wood and floats, she is therefore.....?

A Barbie float? A Barbie raft? A wet wooden Barbie? A wooden floating Barbie thingey? Please put me out of my misery here.
