I was going to wait a bit longer and get a few more shaves done before saying anything, because I'm making a big call and could look stupid later. But I doubt it. I never bought this with any other expectation than it would be as decent as Green and hopefully smell nice; the 'ultimate' cream or soap is a bit of a big forum fantasy imo.
But this has floored me; it has to be the best cream I've used.*
I'm purely talking performance, as everyone likes different scents - but I like that too.
I've had similar results from all my favourite stuff - Tabac, Cella, Speick and even the Proraso Green. But only occasionally does that stupidly close, comfy shave occur with them. Like if I've 2 days growth on, or everything just flows. I've had those occasional results for the last 6 shaves with this stuff.
4 shaves were with the Personna, which I use a lot now. They're not particularly sharp but they're very forgiving and comfy. I wouldn't call them dull, but they are 'slower' than others. They just fly in this stuff and work like a sharper blade. 2 with the Yellows for the same results.
I only do 2 passes and have done for a long while now. I don't bother with ATG anymore, as for me, the risk/return ratio is naff for me on the neck and chin, and I'm really not fussed about getting that smooth. 1 WTG, 1 W or X, depending on mood is the norm. Then a last whizz around the chin. On me, this stuff feels like I've done an ATG all over. Maybe it just works really well with my skin.
The glide is nice, the cream is very protective, and my face feels really soft afterwards. I guess that's the Shea butter. Lathering up does take an extra dip or two of water, as it can be thick and start to lose a bit of moisture otherwise. I'm guessing that's the Shea again.
Smells are subjective, but as I said, if you like the GFT sandalwood, then this is a sweeter smelling version. Very subtle when lathered. Overall, I recommend it for those who were interested in giving it a go.
*Like scents, results will be subjective too, so don't set Lionel Hutz on me if you find different.
