Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Ogallala Lime and Peppercorn Bay rum

Soap's scent is top notch. Really pleasing and soothing especially during cold nights. Very bright Bay rum, lime, tea. Excellent scent. Performance was good too, highly recommended product. Shave was good too, although I scored a nick on upper lip due to carelessness.

Finished off with the usual suspects, and when it's Bay rum soap, it has to be a bay rum finisher.

Up bright and early as I am off to a conference today. Feeling the warm Bay Rum Vibe all over, a great lather from the Stirling. Ran with the usual 2 pass and for a pressured Saturday morning shave I still made it enjoyable so there is nothing to be complained about aside from the 8 hours of discussion on the minutiae of Strata law I have to look forward to today.

Pre: Pears transparent soap
Razor: Fine superlite slant
Blade: GSB (3)
Lather: Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera cream
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 "Pure"
After: Alum, Myrsol Formula "C", Natio calming balm

Second shave with the Fine slant, was a little better than the first but still haven't found the sweet spot.
The GSB felt better in the razor to me. But I'm not sure I like the amount of blade feel from the Fine.
Still had trouble under the nose... :( Will give the razor a couple more tries to see how I go, far from convinced so far however.(n)
Might have to give it a better chance next time with a better lather. :unsure:

Didn't realised I had a dud blade while shaving with GSB #2 going WTG on the left side of my cheeks WOW! that's bloody strange so I quickly change the blade to Voskhod, and then reapply the lather back on to my left side of my cheeks and suddenly wha laa finally back to wet shaving again without any issue with the Maggard Razors v2.0 Open Comb. I must say the Maggard Razors v2.0 Open Comb is a little bit less aggressive compare to the R41 v2013 which is very surprising and amazing IMO, however you still need to apply zero pressure otherwise you'll still get razor burn throughout you're shave if you're not careful enough to think twice about it.

So far so good without any razor burn or any irritation at all, and just a few small tiny baby nicks just below the upper lip seem nothing to me otherwise so far so good throughout my shave was amazing.

The Maggard Razors v2.0 Open Comb doesn't give me a very close shave going WTG compare to the R41 v2013 in the first pass shave, however it does give me a really close shave in the 2nd pass going XTG and when I finished up with the final 3rd pass going ATG and suddenly wha laa is all baby smooth as so far so bloody good with the Maggard Razors v2.0 Open Comb I still find the R41 v2013 is far better than the MR v2.0 OC for a much closer shave.

@SpeedyPC, I'm glad you like Maggard Razors V2OC. Quite surprised you found it little bit less aggressive than R41 v2013. Haven't tried R41, but I thought it would be much less aggressive. You are absolutely right about zero pressure. One of the reason I'm also using MR5 handle - it's heavy enough so the razor slides by its own weight.

Also I found that my favourite Voskhod blades are not that good in MR V2OC. Personna Lab Blue is much better in my opinion.

Very interesting @dewynter I believe my brother may have some Personna Lab Blue some where which might give me a spin after the Voskhod wears out than I'll try the next blade using the MR v2.0 OC head ;)

No nick advised the buyer that this razor was not shave ready but would make an excellent blade for somebody who put in the time to hone it. So hone I did. Sat in the garage in "my office". My desk, home office, standard home/workshop tools, bookcase, a radio that only has 2 frequencies (sport or country), the general man-space everybody has. Spent 5 hours on the 1,000 stone last weekend and still hadn't got this razor to the edge I wanted. This is (was) a "smiling" razor: concave along the spline and convex along the blade, in a "smile" shape. Without wanting to figure out the processes involved in getting a keen edge along a "smile" edge I just honed it straight. By the hone wear now along the edge there was also a slight bend in the blade which added another obstacle/issue. In short, after 5 hours and only minimal progress being made I put the blade over the 3,000 and 8,000 hones thinking, Oh well, I won't be using this until I hit the hones again next weekend.

Come this morning's shave as I surveyed the straights and while pulling down the Joseph & Sons wedge I spotted the Sutcliffe and thought hey, why not? The Simpsons Berkeley badger as always lathered up a storm and the Drogon Noir is another excellent soap/scent combination from @Anthony. The Sutcliffe feels a hefty weapon in the hand. Just a great mass of steel. I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of a blade that was a pulling and tuugy from being blunt. A reasonable shave and it took around 5 hours before I was thinking I could do with a clean-up.

I lapped my stones again this afternoon and put the blade over them again for around an hour. While not one of my keenest hones I gave one cheek 2 quick WTG swipes and am pleased. Can't wait to use it again tomorrow morning.
