G'day from QLD.. Rekindling the wet shave obsession

Hi Everyone,

My name is Dann, and I live in the Brisbane area. I've been head shaving with mainly DEs (occasionally with injectors and SEs) off and on for a couple of years now.
Stuck in the limbo of having hair and no hair, thanks in part to genetics, I have embraced the chrome dome look and adopted a bit of a hobby in the process.

After alternating between classic shaving and cartridges, I'm deciding to put more effort into my wet shaving endeavours and taking the time appreciate the art of the classic shave.

At the moment, I almost exclusively use my trusty undated 40s Gillette ball-end Tech; Spieck cream or Proraso green tub, along with a Vie Long horsehair brush, and good old Brut or Floid to finish off, however, I also have a few Kronas, a Black Beauty, a Bluebeards Revenge EJ89 copy, a few Schick injectors and a G Bar that I crack out on the odd occasion.

I'm looking forward to learning from you all and sharing my experiences where I can, thanks for taking the time to read!

Dann

Welcome @Dann - great to have you here and you have already a great setup (y)

Very interesting, that you are a horse brush user - not many of those around. Have you tried other brushes (if yes which ones?) and settled on horse, or just started with the horse and stayed with it?

Hi Alfredus, thanks for the welcome :) I tried a cheap Bluebeards Revenge Doubloon bristle brush initially, which I wasn't a fan of, but the Vie Long came up at a good price while I was shopping for some blades at Maggards Razors online store, so I picked it up and have been happy with it since. I'm certainly open to alternatives such as a boar brush, but for ~$15 the Vie Long has served me well so far.

Welcome mate!

Hey mate- welcome to the fray. Just curious about what made you head shave with a safety razor but fluctuate between a safety and cartridge razor for the mug...
just curious that's all- was it time difference? Technique? Shower shaving?

Thanks filoboblic :) I should have clarified, I have a beard, so its just head shaving for me. But in regards to why I switch between safety and cartridge razors on my head, it was a few factors - convenience and perceived lack of time being the main culprit
