The main problem I have with Yaqi, is that all the razors they make (and I have a fair few of them now), shaves like a 'Yaqi' - a decidedly 'mid' shave, a kind of meh experience with varying degrees of aggressiveness depending on the razor you buy. Every time I buy one, I'm disappointed. I keep hoping it would be better, but I know in my gut, I'll probably put it away with the rest of my Yaqi razors, in my razor box (the other box). Every Yaqi razor I buy, I swear it would be the last one, but they always seem to get me.
So, I read
@Errol's review a few weeks back and thought I might give the Precise a try. I did miss the boat on Blutt, even though it is quite a bit more than what I would like to spend on a DE these days, I was sad they pretty much closed shop, because I had it in my mind I would eventually buy one considering the good reviews it was getting.
Well, I thought this one would be my second chance to have that 'Blutt' experience. The Precise is probably the best machined razor Yaqi has produced yet, in terms of engagement and fit, and the satin finish is much better than their usual over polished mirror finish. Is it 'good'? I never got to try the Blutt, but if I had paid $360 dollaridoos for this, I would have been disappointed. It's good for the $45-ish I paid during the last Aliexpress sale. Handle was from a razor set I bought from West Coast Shaving years back. Is it a good shave? I'm undecided. It's better than my other Yaqis, but in terms of Chinese razors, I wouldn't rate it past a DSCosmetic S9, for example. Jury's out though. I'm not putting it in my 'other' box quite yet.
