2026 Shaving Acquisitions Thread

It's to use for samples: stainless steel, so I'm hoping that there will be less scent contamination from one sample to the next. :)
Good idea, I've opened packages of samples (not from you) where I've been blown away by the mixture of scents emanating from my mailbox... :ROFLMAO:

I like metal (SS or Al, I don't much care) containers, we have enough plastic in our world. That said, the Parkway tubs that so many of our soaps come in are perfect for our (SWMBO + myself) homemade moisturiser. Hoping not to need so many in the future though, I'm running out of uses for them in the workshop.

A razor I had thought about purchasing for a while based purely on the marketing (steel blanks from Dovo's old factory from 1967 that they had set aside for their Tennis brand, finally finished with modern scales, and limited edition). I got a small payment from my side hustle and thought, if I had the extra money, I might as well buy it before it sells out and I regret not buying it, so... No.150/500. I'm not a fan of these craft boxes. Not sure why they ditched the coffin boxes they used to use before the brand purchase and revamp.

My wife saw me unwrap this beauty and asked, "why do you keep buying razors? Why don't you just re-sharpen the ones you already have?" WHAT? I CAN RESHARPEN RAZORS!?!? WHY DIDN'T ANYONE ON THIS FORUM TELL ME I COULD DO THAT?!?!? I'VE JUST BEEN BUYING NEW RAZORS INSTEAD!!! THINK OF ALL THE MONEY I COULD HAVE SAVED!!! Yeah, no more razors for me for a while, I think...

I thought about road testing the 'shave ready' factory edge before I broke out my stones, but it struggled to shave even arm hair. Now I have to hunt around for my kapton tape.

As a fragrance enthusiast, I know that the Lady of the Night Flower is renowned for its intensely powerful scent, released almost exclusively at night when its blossoms unfurl. I would describe it as rich, opulent, and exotic. At the same time, it can be quite intoxicating due to the high concentration of aromatic compounds it produces to attract nocturnal pollinators. Its fragrance can generally be characterised as sweet and floral. Overall, it evokes for me the scent of withe flowers like jasmine, and polyfloral honey with subtle citrus nuances.

I hope these observations shed a little light upon the Lady of the Night. :)

Enjoy mate - oh, and leave a review!!!
I’ll do my best on the review, but, the aftershave smell a lot stronger than the tub.

The scent profile tell me, it’s for autumn and maybe winter season? The scent doesn’t seem suitable for spring and summer.

Perfect for use now then!

The main problem I have with Yaqi, is that all the razors they make (and I have a fair few of them now), shaves like a 'Yaqi' - a decidedly 'mid' shave, a kind of meh experience with varying degrees of aggressiveness depending on the razor you buy. Every time I buy one, I'm disappointed. I keep hoping it would be better, but I know in my gut, I'll probably put it away with the rest of my Yaqi razors, in my razor box (the other box). Every Yaqi razor I buy, I swear it would be the last one, but they always seem to get me.

So, I read @Errol's review a few weeks back and thought I might give the Precise a try. I did miss the boat on Blutt, even though it is quite a bit more than what I would like to spend on a DE these days, I was sad they pretty much closed shop, because I had it in my mind I would eventually buy one considering the good reviews it was getting.

Well, I thought this one would be my second chance to have that 'Blutt' experience. The Precise is probably the best machined razor Yaqi has produced yet, in terms of engagement and fit, and the satin finish is much better than their usual over polished mirror finish. Is it 'good'? I never got to try the Blutt, but if I had paid $360 dollaridoos for this, I would have been disappointed. It's good for the $45-ish I paid during the last Aliexpress sale. Handle was from a razor set I bought from West Coast Shaving years back. Is it a good shave? I'm undecided. It's better than my other Yaqis, but in terms of Chinese razors, I wouldn't rate it past a DSCosmetic S9, for example. Jury's out though. I'm not putting it in my 'other' box quite yet.

When I purchased the Yaqi Precise, I started getting a lot more razors on my Aliexpress feed. Kampfe came up, and I thought it might be worth a punt considering the ST10X head was only $37 with coupons and coins. I also purchased an AL07 for $27.

No idea what these razors are supposed to be 'homaging.' The ST10X shaves kind of like a less smooth version of the Yaqi Precise. The Al07 is very light, I'm thinking the handle is hollow. Feels even more like a toy than even a Gillette Click. Shave was a bit ordinary, and for a razor claiming to be CNC'd, the finishing feels more like it was cast (but you know it wasn't because you can see the machine marks). You could argue the finish is reflected in the price point, except you can pick up a King C Gillette at Colesworths for $20 on sale, that is way better finished than this. I really should stop spending money on randoms, but curiosity empties the cat's wallet.
