Best British (made in Australia)

Sticky

Just 17 days and then...
2018 Sabbatical Fail
I got this on ebay the other day. I saw it said 'made in Australia' on the tin and it was cheap enough so I thought it would be interesting.

The razor itself has no markings on it and I can only presume it is the original razor from the tin.
I tried it out this morning. The blade is tight on the lugs and the base plate a little loose, the blade alignment was a little off even after a little wiggling. That said it was a reasonable, fairly aggressive two pass shave. The razor has a reasonable weight for it's size.
I have had a bit of a google but there does not seem to be much info concerning this razor. I found a couple of posts with same tin but different handles on the razor.
I was wandering if anyone has one of these? Or, any information on where and when they were made? ( I'm guessing 40's or 50's)

Anyway it's nice to have, although I don't think I will be using it much. Maybe I'll bring it out for Australia day (and the queens birthday)

Very nice, I'm guessing the loseness is due to the modern blades being thinner less ridged than blades of old.

I have a Gillette thin I'll offer up for that

Sorry I mean to make a shim from lol but there are easier ways to do it id guess

Lol, sorry I thought you wanted to trade! I should have read a bit closer. Thanks for the offer, l have a few bits and pieces I could make shim with

How's it shave overall?

I was a little concerned over alignment but the shave was good. Quite aggressive but no dramas. I haven't used it since, I'm saving it for Australia day etc.

Cool thanks for the feed back I'll be sure to pickup one in my travels

Come to think of it, with the talk of shims and carbon blades, I do have an Allegro blade sharpener, that I have not tried, and some Gillette Blue blades. Perhaps I should try them all out together. Next time I might well do that
