Bought a new machine (finally)...

Blackie

The guy from over the ditch
Way back in 2022 I asked what should I look at next as the auto Gaggia wasn't doing it for me.
Just yesterday I finally ordered a new Moccamaster Select (from Australia too).

Yeah, hard to go past the Matt Green.
I am quite over instant coffee (although Jed's #5 is not too bad).
Looking forward to a nice cuppa in about a weeks time.

I use one of these, dirt cheap.

Nice!! now you get to go down the rabbit hole of coffee.
I have the single serve moccamaster and it's makes a great cup of coffee, I've grabbed a nice hand grinder so I can do my own beans the Timemore or the 1zpresso are both good options.

Had a few electric grinders but they just fail to capture the flavor of the coffee the way you like it personally. The Timemore is awesome and the 1zpresso is fantastic. I opted for a Kingrinder 6, the company was set up by a former 1zpresso partner and it is way more affordable. Totally beats out my former favorite - the Knock Feldgrind.

I'd love to get a proper Espresso machine someday but for now I use a Stainless Steel Moka pot, An Aeropress with the Prismo attachment, A Kalita Wave dripper and my fav - the Hario V60 Tetsu Kasuya Model. Big fan of Kasuya-San and find that his 4:6 pour over method creates an amazing Cup of Joe that can be controlled for acidity, sweetness and flavor strength.

Very nice!
Great choice on the colour, i would have gone for that too!

Last year, i bought a Gevi espresso machine for around $250 and have been very happy with it. All our family and friends absolutely love my coffee. I love the gesture of making and serving coffee.

The only thing i would like is if the stream pressure was a little higher. Otherwise, it's a really nice unit.

I get coffees from the Indian state of Karnataka, which is famous for high altitude coffee plantations.

We also enjoy Vittoria coffee which my father brings for me on his visits.

Nice work. (y) Back in the '70s and '80s I used to do pourover manually (with a Melitta filter cone), ever so slowly, with a huge amount of beans ground finely with a Spong hand grinder. My friends used to complain my coffee left them hallucinating.

Them were the days. ;)

Now I mostly do unplugged espresso, either Rok or Lavazza stovetop. The Breville Smart Grinder Pro is now my go-to (especially since it has no problem grinding beans fine enough for the briki/ibrik/cesveh).

But talking of visiting wabbit holes, you could do worse than buy a selection of green beans and roast them yourself. All it takes is a great gun, a stainless colander and a stainless bowl just a bit bigger. I mostly get my beans from Coffee Snobs, and occasionally from Ministry Grounds. Plenty of opportunity to get the right combo of roast/grind etc without breaking the bank.

Love the Breville. Get back to the pour over Homie.
