Mockery complete.
Edit: remember that any P&C products or the Charity Auction do not constitute a fail- you get free passes for those.
That's just brilliant, I love it! Best use for banners ever I hope I get to keep it even if I do survive the sabbatical

Between myself, @Mark1966 and @alfredus last year, sadly there was no spare time to organise everything for it. We hope to have it running again for 2025.Edit: not sure about the charity auctions though, we'd have to have one... Though I totally understand that there must be much more work involved there than would meet the eye.
I've been thinking about it. I definitely don't need anything. I have ordered a custom, but not yet paid for it, but I think that it is the committment that counts?
#edit: signed up over there, so if you want company here @Gargravarr I'm up for the journey!
Yep, gunna attempt my first ever sabbatical year with regard to shaving related purchases. Like abstaining from anything I feel confident right now………. All of 18 hours in
Well done guys, good to have some company along this trip...As I have enough stuff for a few years but still keep checking the shaving websites what to buy next I think Sabbatical 2025 is going to save me someWMBO money and a free space in my wardrobe.
So I am in for 2025
Tick Tock Tick TockNearly 2 weeks gone and I almost broke my sabbatical with a new shaving brush (or two).
But it would be too embarrassing to post it here so I resisted.
Only 346 days to go
Fortunately for me, the only person I would go to for a brush is @TroyTools, and I'm out of inspiration (for now) for my next custom brush. But I have almost a whole year to think about the next one...Nearly 2 weeks gone and I almost broke my sabbatical with a new shaving brush (or two).

I want some 3 band silvertip as this is the one type of bristle I have never tried (from natural ones as I have tried one synthetic and do not like it at all - love the handle though).Fortunately for me, the only person I would go to for a brush is @TroyTools, and I'm out of inspiration (for now) for my next custom brush. I have a 30mm silvertip in a lovely TroyCraft handle. The knot is very soft, but despite its huge size, it's still reluctant to give back enough lather to easily feed a multi-pass head&face shave. Even my 26mm boar is less of a lather hog.I want some 3 band silvertip as this is the one type of bristle I have never tried (from natural ones as I have tried one synthetic and do not like it at all - love the handle though).
30 mm is not a joke. You have to feed it well.I have a 30mm silvertip in a lovely TroyCraft handle. The knot is very soft, but despite its huge size, it's still reluctant to give back enough lather to easily feed a multi-pass head&face shave. Even my 26mm boar is less of a lather hog.
Not all synthetics are born equal. Some are amazing, others are just nasty. My favourite by far is the AP Shave Co G5C. I have two in the 28mm size, set as high in the socket as possible.
Indeed, that's why I mostly feed it MdC. It's more replaceable than any of my milled soaps, which are now hugely expensive or totally unobtainable on any terms.30 mm is not a joke. You have to feed it well.
Is MdC your cheapest soap?Indeed, that's why I mostly feed it MdC. It's more replaceable than any of my milled soaps, which are now hugely expensive or totally unobtainable on any terms.
I'd have to do some sums, but I'm pretty sure it's not really that expensive given how many shaves you get out of it. That tub is big, and they fill it right up to the very top. And it doesn't take much of a load to get buckets of lather. Is MdC your cheapest soap?
That’s what I have heard.I'd have to do some sums, but I'm pretty sure it's not really that expensive given how many shaves you get out of it. That tub is big, and they fill it right up to the very top. And it doesn't take much of a load to get buckets of lather.
5 years is not too long. Aim for 25 at least.Further, I should add that all of the backup soaps I have awaiting their moment are C&S Oxford & Cambridge (made by Valobra, and thus unobtainable by any means now) and Yardley (occasionally obtainable now at huge cost, but if you love it enough it's worth it). I have enough of these jewels to last maybe five years, and I have no expectation of outlasting my stash. If I'm wrong, then I'll be happy, there are plenty of worthy products available to see me through until I peg out. Sooner or later, one of these cancers is going to see me off, if a tree doesn't drop on me first. Or maybe a Velociraptor...
That’s what I have heard.
But $100+ is a bit more than I can comfortably spend. And not this year anyway
