Dr. Balfanz Straight Razor

Hi - anyone on the forum have experience with "Dr. Balfanz Straight Razor " it is a shoulder less design.

Forget the Dr Balfanz. Got one and it would be one of the first of my collection I’d sell if I ever sold any off. It’s OK but I’ve never been able to get a brilliant edge on this razor. Having said that... you probably could :LOL:.
The Boker on the other hand...... I WANT ONE!

That’s a hard call the Balfanz was made by Dovo for the Japanese market and it’s fairly modern, after 1983. I’m not sure on modern blades and I haven’t tried any of the Dovo razors. Boker made great stuff, I have a couple but old ones. I do however like a shoulder less design, easier to hone without stabilisers.
 
I really like that Boka, a shoulder-less blade has a real visual appeal to me. Plus they are easier to hone. I think there is something odd about the Dr Balfanz.
