Hi @eggbert, I finally got off the B&M Prototype Soaps and APR Festivus with much self discipline (I could've stayed on that rotation for a couple of months because of the variety and quality they provide) and started on the first vintage blade Tuesday 26/03. Started on the Gillette, only because I could not get the Personna out of the dispenser (child and adult proof) by the time I got to work to ask a mate how to get the blade out either it loosened itself or I just got it right, just as I said "how do you get these blades out" , out it popped. LOLInterested to see how you all go with those vintage blades.
Some of the packs do get like that - when that happens I tend to wave Wifebert's hair dryer at the pack for a while until whatever coating the blades have starts to loosen up a bit. If I'm not in a patient mood, I disassemble the pack itself!Hi @eggbert= Started on the Gillette, only because I could not get the Personna out of the dispenser (child and adult proof) by the time I got to work to ask a mate how to get the blade out either it loosened itself or I just got it right, just as I said "how do you get these blades out" , out it popped. @@Holiday welcome to P&C. 45 yrs on & off, clearly can teach us a few things. Love the slants, thoughts on the PAA OC slant?
Really Good – Karve Christopher Bradley #D plate, Blackland Vector, Blackland Dart, Ikon B1 slant, Gillette Aristocrat 1951, ATT Classic/ Windsor R1/ H1
Welcome back, we've missed youHi all, it's been a while, so I thought I'd start at the welcome mat again. I've been mostly using the Yardley and Filarmonica’s, my STRAD killers, though I still have about 20 Str8s from Yahoo.jp and a couple more Phillys and #14’s from other makers to try.

I took a sabbatical after realizing I have more str8s, DE’s, soaps and brushes than any man could need in a lifetime.
While on sabbatical, I visited the Total Perspective Vortex on Planet Frogstar, ate the forbidden fairy cake, and had an epiphany. @Gargravarr was right all along, I realized, these vintage soaps, no longer in production but hoarded by those wise enough to buy them years ago, are the best shaving soaps ever made, and I must have MOARRRRR!
Started my own stash with 4 x Yardley, 3 x Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge, 1 x Czech & Speake No 88, and 1 x Valobra unscented. (Sabbatical broken).

Looks like we may be pretty nearly level in our respective Yardley/Valobra stashes![]()
Welcome back mate, I was wondering when we'd see you here again![]()
Where the bloody hell, have you been?
Thank you all, good to be back. My SOTD shots might be a bit boring and more like SOT Month or Quarter while I work through soap samples looking for a modern alternative to YardleyWelcome back @Holiday
Good to hear from you, mate. I hope you are well.
Not another member of the Yardley bastard clublooking for a modern alternative to Yardley

I've been getting a bit like that, but I don't hold out much hope of finding a modern Yardley. I once hoped DRH might fill the gap, but sadly it does not. I do like my milled soaps. Next year I might try a puck of PdP Bergamot & Thyme, hopefully that won't set me on fire like No. 63 did.Thank you all, good to be back. and realising procrastination can be your worst enemy when rare items that are in high demand become available. I had to be opportunistic ignore the cost, definitely not try bartering, and just commit to Buy NowYou've done well to land your stash of Valobra, that takes lots of patience and (I would guess) presumably late nights...![]()
