Henson AL-13 Mild; First impression

That is indeed so odd. Do you own the aluminum Lupo and can compare it to that.
I feel like the Aluminum Lupo is a fantastic razor but is some sort of anodise coated aluminum or at least a textured surface but performs really well at least for me.
Is there a chance that the edge of the base plate is not as smooth as the rest of the razor.

I don’t have the Aluminium Lupo, but I’ve had other Aluminium razors and disliked them as well. The face feel of aluminium is not for me and neither is the drag. The edge of the baseplate is as smooth as the rest of the razor. I will buy the titanium Henson when available and hopefully the smoothness is better than that of the aluminium version.

Have you tried a Karve Aluminium?
I have two words to describe it, " bloody brilliant". YMMV

No, I have not. So far I’ve found the Karve razor very underwhelming and is in my “Hall of Undeserved Hype”. It’s a cheap razor (Brass version), it’s a handsome razor but I can name dozens of razors that shave as well and are smoother. I’ve ordered the A and AA base plates and hopefully they change my opinion of this razor.
