I'm pretty new to wet shaving. I stumbled upon some wetshave channels on youtube.
Was reminded of dads old DE and my grand dads stuff. Only ever saw them use the brush and disposables though.

Anyway nostalgia got to me, I grabbed a set after Christmas. It came with a cheapo TTO DE, boar brush, derby 100pack, alum and a stick of Arko.

It put my 5 blade aldi and mach 3 to shame.
Since then I've moved on to better gear, its started an addiction.


I've been lurking and B&B for awhile but wanted an Aussie forum.. So here I am!

Moved to a Parker 91r. Grabbed a Merkur 39c for $45 last week, really been enjoying that one.
Also been using Proraso green soap, TOBS lemon/lime and Cella. Got a few new aftershaves to. Proraso green, Floid suave and Lucky Tiger bayrum.

Love everything except the 91r and lucky tiger. 39c is just so much better, and don't like the LT smell.

I used the Lucky Tiger face wash for a couple years and loved it, never tried the bay rum but I'm not a fan of that scent in anything really.

Hello and welcome jalex. Stick to a minimalist shaving set up and ignore or take the piss out of nearly everyone on this site. It's much more fun and a lot cheaper.
 
There's a few "frugal" expats amongst us - which one are you talking about @JugV2 ?

Personally, I shave with a straight. Though after the scarring from the last effort ... Mark may need to send me his address for a re-hone!
 
Welcome @jalex . I'd suggest bookmarking this page and revisiting it in 6 months and then 12. You'll be surprised at how your gear profile has changed in such a short time in the Hotel California. Yep there's many a room in here but just as the song closes....
