The razor was easy, it's my favourite razor and gives me the best, most consistent shaves. Polies are my current favourite blade, so they get the spot by default, but that could easily change in the future. The soap would have been Shaver Heaven 1st Anniversary up until a few days ago, but the scent and lather from Courage are just too good, so it takes the spot. For the post it was a close run thing between the TSW and the matching Courage balm from Soap Commander, but I just find the TSW balm more moisturising.

Good I regularly let my mates who shave at work with me use it even if I can't convert them to dropping the carts, good products are half the shave!!
There's something very special about the progress head right?
I'm still to come across a razor that shaves better or as comfortable and intuitively as the progress.

Also, my Wolf Whiskers 25mm fan black wolf synthetic almost got the nod, but I like big brushes (and I cannot lie) so the TF gets it.

Looking at my large and ever-growing collection of razors I just HAD TO HAVE... and now realising if I could keep only one... it would be the better condition one of my two Slims. The date means nothing to me... but if you have to know, it's a 1962, the other being a '63. My blades would be Astras if I could only have the one brand... if I could only have one blade, forget it... I'd grow a beard! The brush... my NOS butterscotch pure badger Culmak 84, the soap Nivea Men moisturising shaving gel, and the A/S my wonderful home-made (pretty much drinkable) Bay Rum!!! Mind you, these things would only be used if Jayne was unavailable... or my wife was around!
So, the TF and WW have replaced your 24mm WD? From memory, the WD was your favourite for quite a while no?

They have and it's not even close. These new black and white/tuxedo/black wolf synthetic knots are crazy good! Dense, but SOOO soft, perfect backbone (imo) and lather super well. Truth be told I think the fan shape of the wolf whiskers is a better overall knot, but I like the extra size and density of the 30mm. My 24mm whipped dog is sparse and floppy in comparison (although I doubt I'll ever get rid of it as Larry's supplier has changed their knots).
If you want the full worst to best rundown of all the synths I've tried it goes; body shop < omega s-brush < maggards < whipped dog 30mm/24mm (can't split them, the density of the 30mm saw me reach for it more than the 24mm, but the face feel of the 24mm is better, imo) < wolf whiskers black wolf 25mm fan/30mm maggard 'black and white' in TF handle, again can't split them. Love the size/density of the 30mm, but the fan feels a touch better on the face.

I forgot about the stray whisker synth, I'd say it was very similar to the maggards.

For me it's a combination of the resonance of the handle shearing stubble (audible feedback), the tactile sense (hold and feel, girth of handle) from the weight of the Razor and the head of the Progress itself. It's a fantastic adjustable, I have not used an adjustable DE that is as consistent save for maybe my Slim. End of the day the Progress would be my Desert Island Razor as they are just so solid, it was almost my Timeless but sometimes I need to vary aggression of the shave.

Brush: Vie-Long Horse Hair or Semogue 830
Soap: Monsavon bol à raser (Been out of stock for a while now. It cost next to nothing but the international shipping cost make it an illogical choice)
A/S: A Heart-wrenching decision... life supply of vintage Aqua Velva Ice Blue or Gillette Wild Rain? Why you do this to me!?

...the shave quality from the Progress is excellent however for me it is the razors voice that I love more than anything...the audio feedback is so distinctive and loud...
