I've tried Taylors bay rum and found it pretty underwhelming...I like smells that announce my presence (in an understated way, of course). I quite like Eucris as well.

Marzipan? I thought that was only for eating?

There is a whole WORLD of bay rums that are better than Taylors! Captain's Choice or Ogallala would be my pick but there is a huge range here - http://www.bayrum.com.au/ It is a classic and don't write it off on the basis of Taylors!

That place also has a decent Clubman range - you either love them or hate them, the Yanks love them ...

Marzipan, only for cooking? Have you NOT tried the various classic Italian shaving soaps with this as the dominant scent? Classic almond marzipan Italian icons are a must!

Come on guys - help with the enabling here ...

Nothing at all wrong with Taylors bay rum. Smell very similar IMO to Captains Choice and both much better than that horrible Ogallala stuff. My own pick however would be Wahl Bay Rum. Very similar scent to TOBS and Captains Choice but ridiculously cheap.

I dont mind the scent of the TOBS bay rum but it seems very weak to me. Perhaps its just too subtle and sophisticated for me? Neither of these have ever been used to describe me. Thanks for the other suggestions though, i may give them a go.

How could you not have tried Cella? Not fallen for that Italian shaving goodness? I'll arrange a sample for you....heathen, goyim, barbarian!

I've used cella. Just really prefer the scent of the tabac soap more.

Might be worth your while mate as the OP now has an insatiable hunger for vintage blades....@Mark1966 saw to that! So here we go, an outlet for those Polsilver Browns and old Iridiums....though I'd say if there are Light Brigades entering this equation that it best to send the parcels direct to me and I'll ensure they are hand-delivered.
