Was a good weekend for me.

First Mum calls from an old shop and picked up two vintage Gillete razors for me. $40 in total. Not a huge price but not paying huge overs. Then a trip to Coburg drive in trash and treasure found vintage blades and cream. Also got two large retro Keane's prints of big eyed kids for $15 for both!

The English Rocket HD 500 cleaned up very nicely. The 1961 Fatboy revealed plate loss/brassing and is rough but the doors open perfect with quarter turn and the dial is perfectly functional with clean clicks. Numbers need retouching. It was pretty far gone when I got it this morning so could of been worse and toasted dial etc.

Flickr gallery of it all.

How'd I do?

VERY WELL!!!!

Those ‘Aussie Spoiler’ blades are great.

Less sure about the cream ...

Got the spoilers for $1 a pack. Cream cost a gold coin too.
Nice one, lovely Rocket and looks like it will give you a great shave. Beaten Fatboy but also looks good for a shave.
Blades, bing! Scored those for 20c a pop, awesome work.
Mmhh... I'd personally ditch the soap but if you are game go for it.

Soap is display only. We have a very retro house and looks good in my vintage medicine cabinet.

Fatboy has cleaned up surprisingly well with further scrubbing. It shaved flawlessly last night.

Until a night on the grog and the idea of shaving starts getting the better of you....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The voice of experience?

You better not get into straights mate ...

Arrived today.

My latest Shaving Soap to try, based upon the verbal recommendation of @RazorPlay at the recent Perth Meet-up.
I've always open to suggestions, particularly from a chap like @RazorPlay, who is both very knowledgeable and also prepared to think outside the box, not to mention a good bloke with a weapon of a motorbike.

Some very kind words there @TomG - cheers! Very interested in your thoughts in this one. It takes longer, feels lighter and requires more product but worth it for me just for the post shave.

I take comfort that if it all goes to custard, it’s a good bath soap!
