As a kid I would go out to the shed and help/watch my dad work and tinker with stuff, from building chairs to repairing cutlery- we would walk in, flip the switch and 10 seconds later the radio would fire up and we got to tinkering.
A couple of years ago he passed and I now have the job of cleaning out the garage which is proving hard and not just cause the tools are heavy.
While cleaning I got to flicking the power switch and sure enough, 10 seconds later the radio comes on.
This radio-

An Aussie made Kriesler radio from the late very early 50s
I cleaned up what I could, replaced a tube or two.

Repaired the grill cloth and cleaned the case.

I also found some bulbs to illuminate the display as original.

Now we listen to it daily and it sounds fantastic
