Luxury brush care

Don't you use the tin? A tin would be easier to brush on than a block like that.
 
My natural hair brushes are all $30 and under so don't deserve luxury brush treatment. [emoji14]

Time to step up to at least a mid range Simpsons, Kent, Thater or Plisson mate, or a custom handle with a top ranged TGN or similar knot.

Not really cheaper @filobiblic , I did all my buying before the ridiculous price escalation hit. In the good old days you could buy three or four Gillette razors with a couple of brushes thrown in for $30.00 to $40.00, So it didn't take many winning bids to collect a bit of everything. If I was starting now I would be like @Drubbing - one brush and one razor.
 
That would have been fantastic. Too bad we can't dial back the clock...

Hey borked still great to use this stuff as for the tips become noticeably softer with regular use.

My Thater is simply luxurious and one of the best purchases shave related I've made.
Col Conk on the other hand... polar opposite!
 
Without wishing to state the bloody obvious but aren't you cleaning your brush every time you use shaving soap?
 
Depends upon what's done immediately after it's use I'd imagine.
Think for a moment of how a clay would react with a natural hair.
 
You wouldn't wash your hair and then go dunk your head in a pile of mud afterwards... or would you?
I'm with @Pjotr on this wrt cleaning brushes.
 
Exactly, now consider how clay is being found as an ingredient in more shave products than yesteryear.
 
But you rinse out your brush, you don't duck your head in the mud and leave it there do you?
 
Of course, which constitutes to some form of brush care :)
Otherwise, after using it, I do a basic clean via a quick water rinse and towel dry.
So what I do immediately after use determines if it's actually been cleaned, or if all the contaminants remain.
Hope that makes sense, as when it comes to graphic arts, I suck, otherwise NO, I'm not going to draw pictures :P
 
I can't see the point either. They also sell soaps for cosmetics brushes, which does makes sense, as they're used with an oily, pigmented product. Shave brushes only get used with soap. Just because this product leaves them soft doesn't mean it's actually doing anything beneficial.
 
Why do we periodically clean our razors ?
 
I object to that, considering from what I've seen, most at least cursory rinse them between each pass and provide a good rinse at the end of a shave, they probably see more time in the water than a brush does!
Despite that, soap scum still builds up upon them.
Guess why your brush no longer smells like the funky thing it does new ?
Perhaps it'd due to a build-up of soap lather coating the bristles/hairs ?
