The thread title pretty much says it all, there is a new kid in town!

Woolly Wash Soapery has some tallow-based shaving soaps.

According to a post by the owner on FB "The base has been tested by a bunch of serious wetshavers and given the stamp of approval." The ingredients list look interesting -

Stearic Acid, Distilled Water, Sheep Tallow, Shea Butter, Potassium Hydroxide, Vegetable Glycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Cocoa Butter, Castor Oil, Naturally Derived Fragrance Oil, Citric Acid, Tussah Silk

There are five options provided -

Tranquility - Scented with a herbal and slightly floral fragrance, its quite calming and balancing. Notes of basil, clary sage, lavender and chamomile.

Tropi-Cool - Scented with a refreshingly fruity fragrance, reminiscent of the tropics. Notes of mango, grapefruit and lime.

Night at the Pub - Scented with a sweet whisky like fragrance, reminiscent of a boozy fruit cake. Notes of bourbon, oak, fruit cake, bay and beer.

Outback - Scented with a dry, earthy and woody essential oil blend reminiscent of the Australian outback. Notes of Sandalwood, Patchouli, Bergamot and Cedarwood.

Shear - Unscented - but may smell a little 'sheepy"? Could be a good replacement for MWF?

Pricing is pretty good - sample sizes available for $5 + $2 postage (via Untracked Aus post letter to keep sample costs low). Pucks ($12) and large jars ($25) also available at $9.95 flat rate postage.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just sent off for a couple of jars for myself, not that I need any more shave soap.

Here is her original post on r/wicked_edge

It sounds like she has been working with soaps for quite a while and has access to her own beef and sheep tallow.
This soap currently uses the sheep tallow.

Yeah, the ingredients list looks good!
I like that it's a coconut oil free soap, similar to mystic water, which has always been one of my favourite shaving soaps!

I'm with you on that mate. I was and will always be a fan of APR and the few Aussie Artisan who bowed out or are no more. Their contributions to the wet shaving community have been essential and far reaching. I was thrilled to see Mark introducing a New Artisan to us and I think Iana is soon going to become a fav artisan soap maker on our forum.

That's a comparison to make me sit up and pay attention. I've been out of MW for a while (I bought a few pucks of her Jeff's Lavender, but Michelle stuffed her package with quantities of samples right up to the maximum weight). I want some more.

Because, she's willing to get MORE Aussie to experience Mystic Water shaving soaps, that's why she's stuffing more samples for you.

I think the Shaving Soap business is divided between small scale artisans focusing on small batch soap releases and the bigger established ones who mass produce and have the funds to market and advertise their products. So many have given up on the business including some of my favs like Southern Witchcrafts, Mickey Lee Soapworks, Route 66 etc. I miss these guys much.

I think we guys do need to support them specially the newer start ups. Samples are an excellent way of introducing their different creations to us. Its a nice way of promoting stuff personally, I cherish all the samples I have received in the pasta and am grateful for them.

How did you find Jeff's Lavender ?

I've always found mystic to be a little different from the rest. Her very high glycerine and zero coconut oil formula is just fantastic!

If this Woolly wash soap performs like mystic, it'll be a winner for sure!

It's a real shame pbgoose never officially launched his soaps... Probably one of the nicest soaps I've ever used! And the scents were so unique and natural!
