R41 or shavette?

I am a weekend shaver with coarse and dense beard, especially at the chin. Usually there is 4 to 5mm growth when I shave. I have been shaving with a open comb DE safety razor with astra blades for a year.

The razor is broken, so I am going to switch to a R41 or Parker SRX shavette. I want to shave as efficiently (2 passes or less) and as close as possible.

I don’t mind spending more time to get used to shavette, which of the two suits my goal more? Thanks in advance.

Well IMHO and again YMMV, R41 “you” may find a bit aggressive and there are “many” who’ll say if getting/wanting a Shavette easier learning curve to go “real” S/R or Kamisori ❤️. I was one of those and ended up a Kami man, but if time, $’s etc etc are not in your favour, for blade maintenance etc, then yes a Shavette. I find with my eyes unable to on occasions achieve the fine edge that I’m used to, so I send out to a “friend” 😂.
Apart from my vintage Gillettes, I mainly use an AC blade as I find they are a cross between DE & S/R and with the right one, the shave is as close as a S/R
Hope this helps, if in Aus and you want to try a Shavette with 1/2 blades PM me I’ll post you one if interested, brand new not a “big” brand name but all you’ll need to get started 👌
