Resin Cast Shaving Brush Handles Made in Oz

These look great, Tony.

You've set loft-y expectations based on these. Takes some real backbone to handle this kind of thing, knot sure I could do it. The way you boar those holes is truly artistic.

As soon as these go on sale I'll be badgering you for one. I've been waiting for an Aus based brush maker for a Vie(ry) Long time.

Thanks @3pass, Not bad for a learner hey !! ;-) seriously, whenever you are ready for one let me know and we will make it happen. I have a number of castings in various colours just waiting to be turned into handles and many more castings to come. So if your looking for a special colour combo let me know and we might just get a little creative and throw a few in the molds for ya :-)

Thanks Tony. I'd quite like a Red and White Dragons (NRL) themed brush. Ideally it would perform better than those Muppets!

Question for you all.
Firstly, It has been suggested that I have my logo or something added to our hand made shaving brush handles. Who thinks Yes and who thinks No ?
Secondly, do you think these look ok ? The last photo si to give some size comparison ;)

My 2c - I personally prefer engraved logos on brushes. Anything added to the brush on a metal plate risks getting water underneath it / falling off / corroding / scratching something when you put the brush down etc etc. Engravings last as long as the resin and also provide some extra grip on a wet brush which can be useful at times. Having said that, if the engravings are inked and the ink fades / washes out that's not a good look either...

I would also like to see a reference to "Australia", as that is quite a unique selling point.

BTW, in another thread, you mentioned hiding the knot in a clear handle with colours - again my 2c is that I like to see the knot and epoxy in a handle - it's a somewhat utilitarian look perhaps but I like seeing how it's put together - a bit like a see through case on the back of a watch. It's also another unique selling point as most others are still hiding the knot...

@Tony Forsyth the handles and casts look amazing so far, keep up the good work!

I have to agree with @RazorPlay in regards to the logos. I have brushes with both coins and engravings and I prefer the engraving. It gives the brush a cleaner look IMO. Also the engraving does not necessarily have to be inked either. A plain engraving at the bottom of the handle works just as well (I also prefer the handle to be clean on the sides and all logos on the bottom).

Yeah, I'd vote for a paint-filled engraving right into the handle material if possible.
 
@Tony Forsyth I also like the engraved logo instead of the "coin" or "badge" - can look a bit tacky and risk of coming off.
Please don't take offence but I also think initials "TT" might sounds/look better instead of the full words "T's Turnings" and I would drop the brush logo.
Maybe "TT - Australia" ??
Just sayin...:rolleyes:
 
I like badge/coin for multi-color brushes.
- engraving on ivory/butterscotch is highly readable, engraving readability on a dark red/ light blue handle is a challenge
- allows for user supplied coins/badge
Some artisans with badges are Wolf Whiskers and Mervyn Cadman
 
@Tony Forsyth Personally I prefer it to be completely plain and untouched. I would prefer a nice little a5 certificate or something along those lines signed by the maker which would allow the purchaser to sell or pass
On to family etc knowing it is the real
