Shave of the day 2013

I've had creams separate, and wondered what to do with them. I think I ended up pouring the liquid away, and just used what was remaining to lather with.

Did that work? Whenever I've had stuff separate I've always mixed to recombine. I figured that was how it started and that is how it is meant to be!

Very nice shave today. Was lucky in buying a W&B Medium Size Hallow Ground off of eBay for a very reasonable price. Razor arrived in great condition.
Razor: W&B straight
Brush: Omega 48 Boar
Soap: Mosavon
Alum
AS: 4711
Balm: Neutragena
Razors a keeper. Sharp and just the right size.

Nice John :)

Arko
830
34C
Schicko #6
Alum
M&S ASB

Too easy to shave with this combo. Maybe a very slight drop in smoothness if I'm being particularly picky. Should get another couple shaves easy.

Well gentlemen, I won't dwell on it but I had an extra 10 so I looked over the eBay and what did I find. ... A pretty, almost new looking Johnson! And I said to myself, 'you desire a new one!
I arrived this week. Yes it was nicer than my old one. Maybe not bigger but a lot brighter.
Took the stones and leather to it, and it was worth the wait.
Razor: CA Johnson. OUR BEST
Brush: Horse
Soap: Ingram
Alum
AS: 4711
Balm: Neiva Protective
Great shave.

Isn't 'johnson' a euphemism for, well, you know?

Had a nice relaxed shave this morning.

Vintage Schick
Bostonian
Valobra Stick
TGN brush

I a,ways forget how much I like the Valobra stick between uses. It's a really creamy lather, it's one of my favorites TBH

Was very smooth 3 pass affair. Much smoother than earlier in the week where I attempted to shave with 2 of the schicks at once :/

Anyway finished up with Alum and WitchHazel and Brut!

Yes, it's a great lather but as for the rest........there has to be something wrong with your olfactory set up Lynchy.

As in the Valobra or the Brut?

If its the Brut than I can dig that ... It's fairly pungent and musky he he he

But if your talking about the Valobra... I'm not quite sure. I really like the scent, kinda creamy and soapy?

...........Valobra.........kinda creamy and soapy?

One of the best lathers you'll come across but.........wet carpet or dog are the words you're looking for or summarised beautifully by Drubbing as flea pit motel soap smell. Tabac is always talked about as the scent that polarises but Valobra is more so in my opinion. I struggled through 1/3 of a stick. It's hard to shave your face when it's contorted and you want to pull your head away from the smell but it's stuck to your face. Torture! I could go on but then I should post this in rant of the day.

Arko
Frankshave Silvertip
34C Merkur "HD"
Schick Wunderblade (7)
Dickensons WH

The Schick Wunderblade is just stupid. It still feels like a 2-3 shave blade. Really hope the ones via Mark are identical :D

As you know I don't buy in to the vintage DE blade hyberbole but for these I make an execption. It's no wonder they stopped production. The vintage/unobtanium price for once is no rip off in my opinion. I'll pay 80c/blade all day long for these.

Have been sticking with the 34C recently, trying a variety of blades / soaps along the way.

Present combo:

34C w/ Feather
Tweezerman Brush
Arko stick

All going well, although I am missing my trusty Red Tip SS.

As an aside, I just realised this is the same Arko stick that I started using at the end of August last year, and I've still got a quarter of the stick left! Not bad for $2.50

An SE shave for me today with the featherweight. Used the aussie shave stick for soap. Fine shave except the chin where I always have trouble getting close with the SE. Had I done the TM it would have been excellent.
