@Jug. Futur is Hefty but well balanced. I find it much much better than the vision.

Of the shavers i have the futur is the one i use most. I have eclipse red ring, G super speed, G fat and fat slim, futur and vision, the feather stainless.

I found that more blades are just better in the futur.....ImageUploadedByTapatalk1374901875.395565.jpg

What? Me? Offended? Never. My apologies if I somehow gave the impression that I was! Bad writing on my behalf. I was hoping you'd take the bait regarding the reference to pictures and that I'd end up accusing you of being a heathen and you'd retort with expanding your reference to my age by adding that in addition being old I'm also miserable and so on and so on.

I guess I should learn how to use smileys. But they're just so ugly!

My mistake, I jumped to the conclusion that you had sand in your vagina.

After saying many times here that I didn't see the need for more than one razor, and that I was happy enough with the EJ89 Barley, my razor collection has crept up to an unbelievable 3!

I went to shave yesterday with the Fatboy Exec, and realised i just had no idea how many times I had shaved with the Rapira that was in it. Luckily it still gave me a very nice shave along with the FS brush, Old style Proraso, and Floyd Vigoroso AS.

How do you keep track of how many shaves the blade in each razor has had? And if anyone uses a spreadsheet, I will track you down and kill you for being way too nerdy about all of this.

Well I shave daily so I just remember how many days I've used a blade.
A spreadsheet is a bit much if you ask me, unless you're using three different razors and trying different blades; such as in a review situation. In that case some kind of record keeping is essential.

...........had no idea how many times I had shaved with the Rapira that was in it..............

That's the indicator to change blades. Even if you've got no idea how many, you must know it's probably more than two and if you change it out it's probably had a good run anyhow. I lose count with vintage Shicks and Spoilers but they can generally go two to three times as long as your average blade. Spreadsheets belong firmly over at you know where. That's a big site. Lots of hunting and nerd killing to keep you busy eggy. Being gun loving yanks I don't think they'd really mind. You'd just be expressing your unquestionable right to bear arms. Start in Florida. You can shoot anybody there.

I just change a blade when i feel it catching. But i can use a blade from 7-28 shaves depending on the blade. I find some blades improve after 2-3 shaves.

Who needs Florida?

I work with a guy that collects them, and currently owns around 45-50 guns.

Lol!

I just go with how it feels. If I'm using more than one razor (rare) and I can't remember roughly how many shaves and it's some peasant blade (Astra etc) I just bin it.

And if its a spoiler apparently it just doesn't die.

Today's shave:
4 days growth (lazy)
Still the same spoiler that I have been going on about for weeks
Slim (8,6,4,5)
Valobra

I'm really starting to see where the adjustable comes into its own. The WTG pass on 8 made short work of the multiple days growth. 6 for the XTG, 4 for ATG all over my cheeks and upper neck. When I get to the lower neck 4 just tugs and hurts, but 5 is a dream.
Also ATG on the chin still leaves some stubble, but 5 feels great!

I've gone pretty much back to basics, and do one pass down, one pass generally up, and then some touch ups.

Most of the beard below the jawline is at enough of an angle that the two passes are more like XTG, but have a bias towards WTG for the 1t, and ATG for the 2nd.

My cheeks can handle ATG fine on the 2nd pass, so the only part of the face I take special care of is from under the lip down to the neck which seems to grow straight down.

When he says: "Stand your ground", you'd better...

That's a large collection. I'm glad for the Mark1966 family that it's just razors at this stage.

Not too sure PJ - I recall a thread where he had one of the worlds great collection of model tanks (some of which I am sure could be modified to take a .22 bullet) as well there was the Primary School pencil collection and I hear from his days at infant school; that his dummy collection was nothing to spit at. :)

In his defence my work colleague only collects WWI guns and some of them are works of art. The detailing on an Indian rajah's elephant gun he has is amazing

Do they actually fire? Or are they decommissioned? I'me sure they're amazing examples of engineering and metal work.

They actually fire... well most of them anyway. He has a mate (a sparky at the mines) that has spent over $500k on guns this year alone.

Aside from the costs they'll no doubt also spend every waking minute on gun sites too.

Voskhod soldiers on

I think I have reached shave 4 with this blade and I do confess it continues to impress. Lost a bit of sharpness of course but that just means I can go XTG ATG WTG all at the same time - figues eights are possible with a blade that continues to remove whiskers but does not threaten any skin. I had a fleeting thought of looking for some of these to add to the collection, but then realised I had about 80 SE blades a reasonable collection of - cant help myself really really cheap spoilers a large stash of blades acquired from NTK and a bunch of slick schicks on the way. As well of course of a collection of Sharks Derbys and 50 odd Indian Wilkinsons. So I left it as a fleeting thought. Oh yes continues with the Macca Root and this is something I may purchase (too frightened to think how much in the way of soaps and creams I have - some still unopened. Still those looking for a nice workmanlike blade should ive serious consideration to the Voskhod.

Little surprise to anyone, I'm sure, that I have popped up in this thread. Voskhods? I'm on my way!

GT I have a couple hundred of these so if you ever want a couple packs PM me, I'm always open to a trade of some sort :)

Lord love a bloody duck - I love my Slim - best razor Gillette ever made but I set mine to 7 and leave it there - if I did all that clicking I would have to reshave the first bits again. Still glad to see your enjoying your adjustable - have to get onto the TM soon :)
