Lord love a bloody duck - I love my Slim - best razor Gillette ever made but I set mine to 7 and leave it there - if I did all that clicking I would have to reshave the first bits again. Still glad to see your enjoying your adjustable - have to get onto the TM soon :)

Lol ...
It's the single razor TM method!

Meh I'm just playing with it still, I'm nearly positive ill become bored and leave it on 6 all the time.

You told me you were going to have a go with some bakelite razor you've got. If it's a good one the Slim'll be binned.

Have been doing the SE thing recently. Ever Ready Streamline. The closest shaves I've had for a long time. Just did the fourth one with a GEM SS blade and the result is as smooth as. I'll be pushing this one for a few more. It feels and sounds rough when you're in the process but the result is an entirely different matter.

.

And I shall Pj just have to gather forth a huge burst of energy to sort through the goodies box

SE the slippery slope to a straight razor. I love my DE shaving but my straights still leave them dead.

For some reason I'm just not drawn to them. Love the look of them and I'd love the honing, stropping and an excuse to buy more stones but I think it's just one step too far. My family would also seriously consider getting me committed and sent out in a straight jacket.

Not overly impressed with a few blades I tried for the first time recently in a Slim:

  • Gillette Rubie Platinum: Very ordinary - tossed on 2nd shave. Worst Gillette I've used (with the exception of the Thai/Viet Super Thins).
  • Wilkinson Sword: Black and white branded wrapper - was very average - swapped into he wife's Tech after one use!

Is it just me or is La Toja just a sensational bargain and underrated soap? I use it as part of a rotation and it's such a easy latherer (almost certainly the best latherer I've ever used!), it smells sensational and is relatively good on one's skin (not quite as good as a few of the boutique soaps I use). I know many folks in here love it and whenever I use it I tend to find myself thinking I have to jump back to it in my rotation sooner. Always a can't miss lathering choice.

Well hello Nick! Thought you had disappeared to somewhere.

La Toja is a first rate soap. Love the "whiteness' of it. It's like a "B movie" radioactive glow.

Just had a fourth shave (I think it's the fourth, starting to lose count here) with a GEM SS blade in the ER Streamline. It's gonna keep on going. Having been focused on DE shaving for a while I forget how rough and dull these SE blades feel in comparison but how smooth the result is. A DE blade as rough and dull as this would produce a rough and painful shave. Been using my amalgemated soap, now consisting of bits of left over La Toja, ARKO!, Speick, MWF, Valobra (regrettably!) and Tabac. Anyhow, that's my story for today.

Hey Nick.

I'm using La Toja cream at the moment, giving the Proraso soap a rest.

The cream is a brilliant latherer.

Love LaToya. Best soap I have used yet by a long shot

Yep, LaToya Jackson always impresses. The stick is nice and works well travelling, even with my crappy boars I use for travel. Lathers like a rabid dog at noon on a midsummer's day.

Since this is SOTD, I just binned a 8 or 9 shave Personna Super Stainless (link to buy your own on Fleabay in the 'heads up' forum) and moved to a Brown Polsilver.

Usually when I go from a vintage blade back to something less vintage or even modern which I define as under 20 years old, I often find the save diasppoints. Not so with the Polsilvers.

Oh, and I am almost out of Proraso Red. About to order either a tube or a bowl of it, and probably a bowl of T&H 1805 cream. I really like the scent which I got a sampler of at one point from a vendor. Nice smell.

I've just added another link over there too.

As we have been talking about vintage personnas here I thought I would try one of these that razormonsta pointed out in the heads up forum a few weeks ago.

Used it with TOBS sandalwood cream, fs brush and the gold Fatboy, and finished oft with Floyd vigoroso.

Still not too keen on sandalwood up here, but a great and very close shave.

Amazing - 5th shave on the Russian wonder blade (maybe its the Maca Root, maybe its the Slim, maybe it is unbelievable skill) but whatever I do like this blade. My slick schicks are on the way and I have a few Spoilers left to trade with. After the Schicks are here I will see who wants to play swappsies :)

No blade
No razor
No soap

11 deg in Brisbane and a freezing bathroom lol

Not enough detail in this. How many XTG passes didn't you do - ATG etc - how can anyone replicate this without the details also you didn't say whether you would reccomend this method. Mark may want to spread it across to that other place perhaps call it the CBF Method?

WQM it is!!! I though i would share a couple of snaps this hairy mug took whilst being tackled to the ground by the air hostess for having electronics on during decent.... :-p

Its after not shave .... Oh dear .....

I have had several shaves since last report.

All good and even some gut 2,2 as well.

The gillette black lasted a good 7-8 shaves. Good piece of kit. Spoiler is hitting it's straps at shave 4, they are a bit edgy for the first few IMO.
